I think that's the build that got destroyed in a office fire predating the release of Sims 2. Correct me if I'm wrong.
It sure if that build you're talking about. I just wonder if anyone has a copy of the build. Mainly so I can play it and preserve it forever
Well, I know it had been leaked once before. But the links were removed quickly. So somebody sure has it, and IS willing to give it away. Just wanna find out who that person may be.

Yeah, apparently it had been leaked by someone from the "BetaArchive" site. And the build that leaked was one never seen before.
According to this forum link, another guy (frogz2007) claims he knew a guy that owned a copy of the "Pre Fire" version as well (2003) and explains how it worked and looked : http://www.modthesims.info/d/printthread.php?t=542482&page=4&pp=25 ...but the laptop of that guy "crashed"...whatever that means. -_- So "John Under" probably is "Johnoboy1982" from Betarchive...but thats it.
"Laptop crash" probably means: something critical in his laptop failed (e.g. hard disc) he is lying he can't be bothered
Umm, I never claimed to have owned it, for one. I was referring to someone who had supposedly owned a pre-release of Sims 2, and we had a conversation on Facebook and he had told me his laptop crashed.

It's ok. Mistakes happen. And yeah... I doubt he ever owned it, though he did bring a point up that sort of made a bit of sense; He said a pre-release build was first leaked back in 2003, by a Maxis employee. Well, there's a post mentioning a leak, though it didn't specify a year, or who leaked it. By this point, I think it will never leak, due to the fact nobody has it, or private collectors do own it, but don't want to part with it for various reasons.
While i'm not sure if any betas have leaked, I have a small collection of "pre-fire" footage of the game. I haven't played much of the sims 2, so feel free to point out any other differences you may see. A interview from 2003 with one of the creators of the game- Margaret Ng. There is a 2004 trailer for the game on youtube with the Beta UI still present. There was a e3 playthrough of the game without the voiceover, can i find this on youtube still? A sims 2 Preview disc was included With Select Copies of The Sims: Making magic. It has interviews with the creators and all of the images are from E3. My version of this Disc has disc rot, does anyone else have this disk?
