I have a question for everyone here.

What is the most difficult game you have ever played? Modded or otherwise. Feel free to list one for each option if you feel so inclined to do so.

I tried a Super Mario Bros mod once (I don't remember the name, but I'm sure it had Hell in the title), and it was just about impossible.

Prinny 1+2. At least they give you 1000 lives after the prologue. Even with easy mode on, it can still be challenging.

Isn't that game made by the Disgaea people? Those games have you level to like 50,000

When I was 7 or 8 I had a really hard game with one of the missions in GTA San Andreas. It was the mission where CJ had to follow the damn train with Big Smoke. I could never shoot those guys down.
I recently replayed GTA San Andreas and I completed the misssion the first time. I guess it was an age thing.

I'm not a big fan of games like Dark Souls, because I'm not patient enough to deal with the difficulty.

If a game like San Andreas had been around when I was 7-8, the hardest part would've been to convince my parents to let me play it. (I guess Doom or Mortal Kombat would've been the closest thing, and they were a big no-no)

obviously - Rogue by Epyx 1983. Also some ports of this game to several consoles hard as hell (Net Yaroze version for example)
    and R-Type Arcade 1987

I've been trying to complete the original SIREN for PS2 off-and-on for years now, and I refuse to use a guide.

...and when I say off-and-on, I mean play for a week or two annually until I get horribly stumped.

I think I actually got pretty close to the end last time I played, but I ended up back in a loop and couldn't figure out how to advance. The game isn't so much hard as it is puzzling. It's far more difficult on every level than the remake, though (New Translation/Blood Curse).

Talmit's Adventure for Sega Mega Drive, I never could complete it when I was a kid the levels kept going on and on getting harder each time.
I still have it I may eventually try and complete it one day.

Most video games. :( I'm still stuck in that first part of Far Cry: Blood Dragon where I'm supposed to infiltrate a base. I end up getting into a firefight everytime. I kinda regret paying the $5 for it.

Hardest in terms of leaping bounds of logic was Ace Attorney: Justice for All.

I Wanna Be The Guy got the balance between challenging and frustrating pretty much exactly right for me to stay hooked. I never managed to get past even Mike Tyson, but had lots of fun failing.

Any scrolling shooter like Gradius or R-Type.

I can get patterns down, but when it comes to dodging bullets in those types of games I can never get it down very well.

Battletoads, couldn't get past the Snakepit level. I also never finished Fantastic Adventure of Dizzy, couldn't work out what to do with the last 3 items. Rayman 1 is pretty hard too, still not finished :/
Demon Souls and Dark Souls are not that hard, if you give it enough time you will love it
