I was lucky to get the chance to speak about 20 min with Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of the Tetris. Obviously I asked him if the rumor about Robert Stein and the unicensed Megadrive Tetris was real, he told me yes (thanks to god!) also told me that was a long time ago and he would not want to talk about it in the conference.

Here is a pic of the Jornadas Mundocombo, where Alexey was answering questions about Tetris and himself for aprox 2,5 hours.

At the end, he accepted to sign my MD Tetris :)

I only have to say thanks Alexey, for your simpathy and your contribution to the industry of videogames.

I thought some of you could find interesting this information, now I think we can be sure about this game is not a fake.

Wow. Congratulations. That must have been interesting. He talked about the origins of Tetris, etc? Like what inspirations, etc. that made him want to develop the game?

Hah, fantastic. One more mystery solved!

Did he say anything interesting, apart from this, by the way?

1: What's the rumor? Sorry, I'm not much up on Tetris lore.
2: You have some lovely locks. You should be in a shampoo commercial.

Gaijin: I guess that the "rumor" was that MundoCombo could have it or not. Obviously, he got it... And signed ;) .

MundoCombo: I didn't go to the event (I can't stand macro-meetings) but, anyway, I also wanted to congratulate you for the acquisition. If someday I become millionaire remind me to make you a big offer for it :p .

Hahah, no, I didn't see the other post before writting this one! In fact the rumous was if the Tetris was ever made by Tengen-Mirrorsoft-Sega-Robert Stein and not for a chinese pirate in his warehouse :)

Thanks for your comment, negora. No way to sell this game, pal :)

Great you got to meet someone like him and to sign a rare copy of this game......I am sure it has to be unique

Wasn`t the game tetris a very popular game that was already played in Russian and called something similiar?

This goes from my reading of the Game Over book some time ago, so apologies if a little shaky on the details

There was a game where you put the pieces in the box so they all fitted. A common thing - much like those puzzles you get in Christmas Crackers and novelty shops. Only these were tessilating pieces, and had 5 parts to them, a pentomino. He just took one piece off, and made it into a video game where the pieces fall down ;-)

    Ahh, my memory is good!

Thumb Candy... a great programme. I did a better cap, though - it's out there somewhere!

Hehe puyo puyo is indeed more fun especially when you have a screen filled right to the top & get the last piece you need to cause a massive chain reaction & bury the other player in a mountain of ojama puyos :) but tetris is a good puzzler when i dont want to think.

Tetris Grand Master > every other Tetris > every other puzzle game :p

Although you I would also say Puzzle Bobble > Tetris in general.^^""

OT: Mundocombo - Did you happen to attend a GP32 convention in Bath UK a few years ago? You look very familiar.
