Wow the original BD for The Terminator was truly an abomination.

The grain from the film is very well preserved in the new one without many artifacts

I got an email from Amazon a while ago that had a listing for a new Ghostbusters BD release. Wonder if that's going to be a remaster too, since the original version looks really awful?

I haven't gotten too many blu ray's lately, I just picked up the Departed and The Dark Knight Rises.

Watching the latter tomorrow back to back with American psycho with my friends Ben and Jerry.

I'm constantly tempted to pick up the 3 Chaplin blu rays Criteron put out, Gold Rush, Modern Times and the Great Dictator, but I never do pick them up.

The effects on Ghostbusters weren't even good enough for DVD. On the shot from the building down to the road, they didn't matte the dog statue so you can see the traffic through it. I'd have thought if they were putting a camera out the window it would make sense to stick a model in front of the camera as well. The matte painting of the top of the building looks pretty ropey too.

I just watched The Dark Knight Rises, the picture on the Blu Ray is so good it showed me that my Blu ray player's settings needed to be changed.

Bought a few Black Friday deals myself from Amazon US. Got Alien, Aliens and Blazing Saddles. Oh man, what a classic. The Alien BluRay was only 6 dollars while the other 2 were under 10 USD. Total with shipping to me was under 3000 yen which is the price of one BluRay in Japan. I'm just waiting for them to arrive. Should be here by December 20th.

Blazing Saddles had some interesting extras too. Like the pilot for a Black Bart TV series

Really? Now that's what I like to hear. A BluRay with some meaningful extras and not such shit as calling the trailers an extra. Now I'm really looking forward to Blazing Saddles. I just wonder how good it will look on BluRay. It is a very old movie after all.

My BluRay Discs arrived from the states today. 4 movies for only 21USD. Oh how I love importing BluRays from Amazon. It would have cost me 3 times as much to buy them in Japan. I'm liking the covers to Alien and Aliens. Sort of makes me wish I'd bought the 3rd movie but then again that's shit.

I'd say Alien Anthology is well worth buying for the great extras, including a documentary about the disastrous production of Alien 3, even if you hate 3 and Resurrection (which I do)

My recent Blu-ray acquisitions. I wasn't aware of it when I bought it, but I believe The Terminator is the remaster, because it looks quite good. The one thing I don't like about it is the cover art - instead of the original font they used a generic looking one - kinda sucks the life out of it. Other than that I like it. I'd seen both TMNT and Tekkonkinkreet on Blu-ray before (rented from Netflix), so I already knew they were good. I've yet to watch TMNT since I got it, though. All 3 were pretty cheap, and well worth the money IMO.

I've seen the TMNT budget triple pack online at like $10. Thinking about getting it for whatever reason, already have them on DVD.

A few more BluRays form Amazon US arrived today. 50USD with shipping included. I'm a happy man. That's the price of two BluRays here.

Was about to say that was a high price but didn't factor in shipping to japan. Got skyfall the otherday, man one of the best looking bonds on blu ray(the fight in the hong kong building looks insane.)
