My Vizio TV downstairs won't turn on. Which has been a blessing in disguise because my annoying room mate stays upstairs now! I doubt I'll bother fixing it because the peace and quiet is fantastic.

The TV in my room is some off brand (element) tv with a cheap internal tuner. It can't pick up the Q-AM channels therefore I can't watch anything on it. The Vizio had no problem picking up channels. Which got me thinking can I swap the TV tuner from the Vizio tv into the element tv? They seem to be somewhat standardized?

I know I could just buy a cable box but I rather do it the hard way.

    No.

And if it won't turn on at all and it's an LCD, it's likely just the capacitors on the power board. From the sounds of things, you're better off taking it to a qualified repair man who knows what they're doing, though.
