    That does look better.
I'm gonna let the expert get their hands on that.
If you can go down, why is the back option here & not at the bottom of the list?
(It might seem like a stupid question, but that kind of stuff doesn't seem clear when you only have pictures. a video of it running would be nice.)

Holy crap this is starting to look legit. Sorry dude, but you really can't blame us with all the false flag SM64 "betas".

Like others are saying, the day you put a video of this running will be the final nail in the coffin.

The "Back" option can be selected by pressing "B" the only part that scrolls are the stages.

I fully understand you guys, and yes, there is going to be a video.

However, the next couple of weeks i'll be very busy with irl stuff. There might be a video this week, but don't expect much from it (Probably just a few quick shots) as i'll be having a little - to no spare time this week. In the future however (When I have more spare time on my hands) I could make a more in-depth video.

I will try my best to prove it's legit.

And just a side note: No, this is not an excuse NOT to post a video. There will really be one. Just be patient.

This looks like a similar build to the B-Roll footage that was posted a few years a go.

Can you get some screenshots of the beginning area with Hazy Maze Cave with the scuttlebug since you have access to the basement?

okay I must bring the question :) are you leaking this? it would be more interesting to see the unused files of the game.

Can we see a picture of the back of the cart? Nintendo n64 prototypes are known to have a certain sticker on the back.
I would hope this to be real but it's kinda screaming fake to me.
I heard recently of someone trying to flash Mario hacks onto a N64 dev cart so this seems far too much of a coincidence.

Also from my knowledge I've never known of a Nintendo made game N64 prototype to be other than final or final with debug activated, I believe that they wouldn't have several build stages just sitting on dev carts, they may have saved the Rom and just continually relfashed.

Well, at least your update is surely more convincing than what you had up originally. As has been mentioned, the early Scuttlebug would probably make for a good piece of proof.

FWIW, at the Shoshinkai '95 show they had multiple dev carts with an early version of Mario 64. If they used a build for promotional/display/review purposes, it is likely that there were multiple copies made and just as likely that not every one was reused/overwritten/returned to Nintendo. I don't know if truly one-of-a-kind prototypes are really the norm.

Nothing has been convincing in the slightest. Very, very, very close to closing it.

I guess its up to you but I suggest talking to the user and give him a small window of time to prove its real. If he can't/doesn't then just close it.

All the initial shots in the OP looked stretched, while the one pic where he's holding his timestamp in front of Mario in that green field you can see it's no longer stretched. Look at the star icon, less stretched than in the two initial screenshots. Seems like you'd have to have maybe exited fullscreen mode and just have an emulator window open to get resolutions to switch like that.

Also, the white on Mario's hat just looks like it's much more fuller than in any early shots I've seen. Maybe a result of the picture being stretched, but I can't say for sure.

I feel like a geek even looking into this so much. Still convinced it's fake till proven otherwise.

There have been plenty of beta showings but I'm still yet to see or hear of one in collectors hands. Nintendo were way more possessive of these compared to Nes or snes protos.

Why would a version of the game that supposedly has so many differences to the final version 1) be in English, judging from the stage select menu, and 2) have a stage select menu that uses the final Japanese stage names? Especially when the final ROMs of the game still contain the (different, Japanese) stage select text seen at Shoshinkai 1995, and not the text shown in that photo?

Call me cynical, call me jaded, but this needs a video, of you inserting the cartridge into an N64, turning it on, showing the stage select menu and some of the other stuff you've mentioned, with the system and TV visible at all times. Otherwise, it's just another hoax.
