That's a possibility. Look how much rendered detail is on screen. It doesn't exactly scream upscaled 480i image on a modern monitor.

The Lives icon kinda looks like Paper Mario-ish.

Look at that final HUD with recreated beta graphics for Mario's head and the star that don't look 1:1 with all early shots of the game out there.

And those empty rooms that no one has ever seen before in any shots.

And how upscaled and emulator-like these shots are.

Dude you need to dump this proto quick, you got us all riled up. You are a god and we will hound you until you give us the rom for free. You hereby have all the attention you want.

I would hope it's obvious I was being sarcastic in that post :)

A plain signature on a picture is not evidence enough on these cases. We're talking about Mario 64 here.
You'll have to get a picture of the cart, a screencast showing at least half of the levels, a picture of you holding the cart with your left hand and a flag with the website logo on the other. Also a chest X-ray scan would help (yes, we know your bone structure, don't ask how we got it).

I could smell the contents of this thread before I even opened it. Usually I'd say something like "man I'm sick of this bullshit", but the various Xbox releases by @Tommy1603 have me in a good mood.

I'm so glad all of you are not gullible.

Good luck OP. Going to have to try harder than that.

Some footage of Mario 64 in late development shows the final HUD font with the early icons. The same footage also shows the player having 100 stars.
I don't say this might be true, but if it's fake, at least it's a documented fake.

(PS: here's the footage I'm referring to: )

Nice photo, how much did the potato cost you?

Jokes aside, do you think you could show us a photo of the console with the cart running in it, and a piece of paper with your name on it all in the one photo? That should help to clear up some of the skepticism.

    That cart proves exactly nothing.

Bro that pic looks likes something from 1999, did you have a night vision lens. Super skeptical about all of this.

Post a photo of something confirmed as different from final, preferably one that matches up with videos that are out there (like the release candidate footage) and not as easily recreated as HUD icons.

Also, while I know that prototypes are frequently unlabeled or poorly labeled, I do think that Nintendo themselves would be very likely to put some sort of label on the dev cart.

I don't see how preference factors into this anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe this any more than you guys do, but I wouldn't be so quick to write-off something that's outside of already seen footage.

Sure, there are almost certainly differences between the various prerelease versions and the final game outside of the things that line up with already posted footage, but those don't help too much when it comes to proving legitimacy especially when combined with the generic nature of the dev cart supposedly containing the game.

Or heck, even if not already shared in existing videos, something like different 3D models or different textures would go a long way to proving legitimacy, or at least much more so than the odd choice to show an empty room as proof.
