So I was wondering if anybody out there has discovered any sort of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 beta footage or a prototype. I'm just really interested in anything Sonic/Nintendo related.

There are some pictures. I found some footage a while ago: Sonic 1 Green Hill Zone #1 @ CES 1991 and Sonic 1 Green Hill Zone #2 @ CES 1991 I have been looking for a prototype pretty extensively for many years and only ever found final copies. Nobody really knew it was going to be a hit so there aren't many extant prototype carts of it. I'm still searching, though, you never know. The thread f2bnp linked has much more information.
Would those enemies during the #1 video be placeholders? I haven't played through Sonic the Hedgehog in a while, but I don't recall those enemies showing up.
