Hi everyone! I have one of those infamous Simon Wai Sonic 2 prototype and I would like to know how much do you think it's worth. Thanks! PS: here's a useful link for those who are wondering what it is: http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_2_(Simon_Wai_prototype)
The funny part that these carts were very popular back then, but now they aren't a lot of them. I think the cost is between $50 to $75... Could you send some photos of the cart and the goodies inside for verifying that it's an "original" fake or an homebrew? :3
A pic would help. Personally I think the only ones with any real value are these two: http://info.sonicretro.org/images/d/d9/Cart1.PNG The other more common carts use the cover art for the final release of Sonic 2, often discolored, and were clearly made after the game was released. I think the two in the pic above are from before the game was officially released, making them more novelties in that respect. But that's just my guess.
Are you the same guy who posted about this on SEGA-16.com? If so, you bought yourself a $150 repro of lousy quality. Could have gotten a Mega Everdrive for that price.
Greg2600 > I'm not that guy, I got this cart years ago with an exchange. Good to know that someone bought one similar to mine for $150! Would you mind posting the link of that thread so I can check it?
Most likely the "screws" are just part of the plastic and the cart just clips together internally. All the bootlegs I have are like that.
