You can also turn that argument around; why would people register when they can access the whole forum without registration?

I'm not saying the whole forum should be blocked for visitors, only the threads you know people want to read/watch like collections and obscure gaming. This way you probably raise the number of new members, and make it easier to raise money for the site.
