Ok I just recently bough Dragon Force for the Sega Saturn and when I put it in it seems it was running but then it dumps me into the cd player menu. So my question is if I purchase a Action Replay for the Saturn will it bypass it and let me play the game knowing the ring is not reading right need help asap.

So buying a action replay would help or just being a waste of money?

Is it matching the region of your Saturn?

It might just be a weak laser / scratched disc.

yeah it is the same region and tried it on two different Saturn and does the same exact thing. I know that the outer security ring has a scratched and wondering if I buy the Action Replay would it be possible to do that without returning the game or am I just going to return it and continue my search for the game. Also it is american versions of saturn and game

Action Replay won't help - it doesn't do anything to the disk authentication, just bypasses the region check (unlike the Playstation, these are two distinct things in the Saturn). If you have access to a console with a modchip, try booting it on that to see if it's just an authentication problem or if the disc has some other problems - you could also try the swap trick, but that can be a little tricky if you have never done it before.

Another possibility (although less likely since you tried two different consoles) is that the laser in the CD-ROM drive is starting to fail - when they are on the way out, the first things you have problems with are scratched discs.

no both consoles had cd rom drives and lens and batteries replace. Scared that it would just be the game not working but I guess I have to go get my money back

The disc is probably scratched and/or dirty. Clean it with a glass cleaner cloth (the ones they give to wipe your TV). If it has a lot of marks, you might even want to clean it dishwasher liquid (rub it with a clean finger very gently).

Note that there are multiple security rings, one at the far edge with the visible Sega logo, and one about half centimeters before that. If you hold the disc towards the light, you'll see that it reflects it differently at a certain point. So, clean the entire disc not just the outer ring.

No, if it's scratched, just take it to your local game shop or video rental place and have them skim it with professional equipment. It's a valuable title, do it right.

First, though, check there aren't any pin prick holes in the silver of the disc, a common issue with Saturn games. If you can see daylight through such a hole in the disc, it's pretty much useless.

Does the console do this with any other title?
