Thanks for the excellent pictures of this SEGA "baby". First pictures I've ever seen on net.

Thank you very much for the pictures. The SEGA equipment looks very clean. Tell me please did Ringedge has two storage device? I think we will see two SATA tape for two drives. Is there a second drive behind the SSD (one for system, one for game)? Is it some possible to simple upgrade this system (add some RAM, change the GPU), or this is close hardware.
One more time big thanks for the pics.

Seeing the Sega logo on such a modern PCB makes me want to hug it.

Are these units used as the internals for large "cabinet" arcade games? I just tried to do a bit of research on them but I just want to make sure I read everything correctly.

RINGEDGE is used for deluxe cabs like Let's Go Island and their network games like Shining Force and Border Break. RINGEDGE 2 is the current platform for Sega's Nesica clone, All.net P-ras, which runs the latest Guilty Gear XX revision, Phantom Breaker, Pengo, etc.

Cool stuff. What kind of connectors do those HDDs use? They look like power and SATA combined into one cable.

Neat. That is definately an Intel CPU fan, same type used for LGA 1155 sockets and the RAM slot is for DDR2. The board looks similar to an Intel board, but I am unfamiliar with the MS-9667 model number. MS is typically used by MSI (Microstar) but MSI already has a product in their mobile line with that designation and is totally different than this. The 838 number must be the Sega part number, since it matches the similar designation on the interface board. The one on the motherboard looks like it is a label, which may indicate that may not be a Sega proprietary item.

Nice stuff. Now if someone can get one to run Shining Force or Border Break with out needing access to the sega server would be great. I really want to play those two games. =(

See that handle in the first image, to the right? Not sure, but that might just be the second drive, in a tray to allow for easy swapping of games...
