Some discussion about recoveries and sdk files that people are posting or asking for. SDK FILES: Please refrain from direct linking to downloads for SDK files from systems still sold in stores. It's highly illegal, and causes us problems. It's perfectly legal for you to link to another site that has download links for files. "I found a web site with an SDK download" What is permissible under law greatly varies by nation, but what is agreed upon in general is that there must be at least one degree of separation to be safe. You can link to a page with links. "this page has links for the files" You can do a "file request" and if someone feels like it they will private message you. You cannot, ever, post a direct link to SDK files for a system that is still sold in stores. Don't link to your MEGA folder. Please link to another page that has that link. (Assemblergames.com --> 2nd site with link --> file or mega) There must be one degree of separation or a personal transfer of conversation from the message board to a private conversation Recoveries: Recoveries are basically restore files, I see no issue with them as they have 0% potential for piracy, hacking or exploiting. If a recovery somehow allows piracy or other nefarious purpose, it is forbidden. DISCLAIMER: ASSEMBLERGAMES.COM IS A CONTENT AGGREGATION SITE. USERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CONTENT POSTED. Just a note that the Xbox 360 has been discontinued, as per http://news.xbox.com/2016/04/20/xbox-360-celebrating-10-years/: Does that means Xbox 360 SDKs would be okay?
I don't know about it, I'd probably wait about a year, but I don't know whether or not that'd be a good idea anyways... And same goes for the ps3. It hink sony's discontinuing that too, but I recommend waiting so that even though it's been discontinued, we wouldn't be on very thin ice.
No, you can still walk into a walmart or go on amazon and buy a new xbox 360. The day you can no longer buy a new system from retail channels, then you can do whatever you want within the degrees of separation rules. You can link to a page with links. For PS3 update PUPs (and by extension vita/ps4) would be out as well? Just want to ensure I understand this correctly.
You could also link to a text file on mega that has the download link within it. This creates separation for the site.
Pups are fine, they are just firmware updates. You can't install one and magically be able to use BD-R discs or hack.
You can't directly link to the file. You can link to a page that does. "Found a site that has sdk 0x0x0x" I need to stress that you can post links to other sites all you want , but cannot post any direct downloads.
