Which type? RAM expansion for the games that need it, or backup space expansion for more save games? There are dedicated official carts for both, or there is the Action Replay which acts as 4MB RAM plus bypasses region, and has an internal backup manager - however it cannot save games natively to itself, so you'll always have to manually update savegames from the internal memory (and a handful of games use savegames so big that they don't fit in the internal memory).

If you only need more space for savegames, I recommend the normal backup cart. The AR has a tendency to corrupt itself for some reason.

So an official backup cart? Some of the games I have basically require me to delete all of my other save games. I've been thinking about getting a ram cart also. Now that I have the SD setup I might play some games that require it.

There's some that combine them all into one on a switch.

Yeah I'd just read issues with some of the aftermarket cards.

That's because of the cart slot, not the carts. I use original carts mostly, and thus I mostly had problems with original carts.
