Just heard about this and I am lifting my glass in tribute to him. People in the pub are looking at me funny but screw them.

My sympathies to his family and friends.

Really sad news. I was thinking about him only the other day.

RIP Ralph - thanks for consoles, light guns, SIMON and lots more inventions.

Quite sad news. I might have to pull out my Magnavox Odyssey just to look at it and think about how far we have come in the world of video games. Rest in peace.

I was lucky enough to meet him in 2008 and I corresponded with him via email up until he died. In addition to being a genius, he was a very approachable and kind man. I miss him very much. Goodbye, my friend.

He wasn't the father of video games, but he was the father of games consoles that plugged into a TV. He also inspired the arcade game Pong. Atari went on to create Touch Me which inspired Simon, so it didn't work out that bad for him.

Rest in peace, you who made my life million times more amazing, and actually just made my life what it is. I'm eternally grateful.

You'll always be remembered for what you have made come true.
