The actor Anton Yelchin has died aged 27 after sustaining injuries from being crushed by his own car at his home.

Yelchin had been in several films including Along Came a Spider, Hearts in Atlantis and Charlie Bartlett, but was best known for playing Chekov in the J. J. Abrams reboots of Star Trek.

What a shit year 2016 has been so far. 27 is no age at all, he still had all his life in front of him.

    RIP Anton.

How do you get crushed by your own car? It must have been a stick and he didn't use the e-brake, or he had a remote start in an automatic, which is illegal.

Leave the handbrake off? Must have a sloped driveway, too.

We had a singer here who managed to run himself over. He claimed that he'd been unwell and got out of the car to vomit. However, I know him and he told me it was a suicide attempt.

    [EDIT]
The Daily Fail have decided to post pictures of the scene. Apparenty the car was in neutral with the engine running, the drive was indeed steep.

Self driving cars can't come soon enough.

Take me from New York City to Chicago while I sleep.

He was great in Alpha Dog as well. Extremely saddened by this.

I believe some Jeeps were recalled when hand brake controls were found to be confusing. To my knowledge he was driving one of those models.

Seriously, this year has been insane. My grandmother passed away just last month, I can't believe what a year this has been.

Anton was great in "Like, Crazy". Definitely recommend it.

Watching Charlie Bartlett again. Good film. This is rather unfortunate, though...
