More depressing news, unfortunately. Alan Rickman has passed on at age 69. Cause of death is said to be cancer and he passed on surrounded by friends and family. I'll always remember him as Hans Gruber from Die Hard, but plenty of Harry Potter fans know him as Professor Snape. He will be greatly missed.

Man, this is a really shitty start to the new year and 3 killed by bloody cancer :(

No matter what Alan was in, he always stole the show. Personally for me it was his Hans Gruber but I'm sure many would have loved his many other roles.

And we're still not over David Bowie

It's Summer 2009 all over again.

Well, his award wins were for Rasputin and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, the news mentioned Love Actually as one of his popular films, but I think of him as Metatron in Dogma, besides of course Die Hard and the Harry Potter series.

    Sad news, indeed.

"Something the Lord Made" is one of his movies that i recommend to everyone. It's one of my top favourites.

    RIP.

It's a real loss, as he was a superb actor, who had he ability to make even the most evil character somehow likeable.

He was brilliant in the comedy Galaxy Quest, too.

I also really appreciated his role as Marvin in The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
