The new series of Retro Core is out now on YouTube in HD and will uploaded to the official site in a matter of 2 hours (Just encoding the F4V file right now).

Retro Core has gone back to it's multi platform format in this new series featuring 4 games and Shite of the Month each volume. There's no Shite of the Month in volume 1 however due to time issues. The show will now run for 25 to 30 minutes which I feel is a perfect length.

They just keep on rolling out...
One question though (if it hasn't been asked already?): why is the lower resolution version in f4v?
I always convert them anyways to avi.

The lower resolution is in f4v because it's the same file that is being used for streaming. It's a bit of a waste of time to encode 2 low resolution versions. The original file is a 720p wmv file which is uploaded to YouTube and used for the HD download on the site. I also use that 720p wmv file to make the f4v video for streaming.

The lower and higher resolution files on my site are both better than YouTubes though due to a higher encoding rate and much higher sound quality. YouTube converts the sound to 128kbps while the ones on my site are 248kbps.

Super duper excited to watch this after I make a trip to the parents' house. I can't wait! Just saw the YT vid in my subs and came here immediately to chime-in.

    Hooray!

Thanks guys!! More coming soon but with the show now featuring more than one game it will take a while to produce each show. When I was doing Retro Core SS I could throw together a show in only a few hours.

He loves his Turtles game. Every weekend he plays a TMNT game for an hour. Normally it's the arcade version of Turtles in Time but sometimes we play the older arcade game or the Mega Drive game. We used to play the SFC version ( I like the music on that version best) all the time but it's too long for him with it's extra levels. If he plays on his own he can reach stage 4!! He's going to kick my arse in a few years when we play 2 player battles. I'm not looking forward to an arse kicking from my son. Sad dark days of gaming

Good timing aye. There's a nice retro game show that I like to watch called Retro Vision but it's in French so it may not be for everyone.

The Final Retrocade for awhile comes out Friday then a month or so break to retool the show and improve it's flow. Season 2's premise is established at the tail end of the next episode. I DID listen to everyone's criticisms. But I'll write about that elsewhere.

I like Classic Game room HD myself and Fighter's encyclopedia was good for maybe the first 3 episodes until that weird grapplers one they did this week.

Excellent show! I almost missed this, since I don't look at this part of the forum too often. The Retro Core SS series was great, but I'm glad you're doing multiplatform games now. It adds some variety.

Quite a few people wanted me to go back to multiplatform so that's why I made the switch. There won't be much PlayStation stuff though since I no longer own one or any games and have no desire to buy one and games. My friend has one though so I can borrow his some times. As for Game Cube, well that's a big no for now.

Ironically I plan to do more Playstation and Gamecube. Some of my favorite last gen games are on Gamecube

I also need to start covering the awesomeness on the X68000

    @Yakumo
Will you be covering more obscure games since you'd already covered 99% of the good Saturn/DC & MD (for the biggest part) games? I'd like to see more unknown stuff like home computers (pc88) and vintage consoles like the Pyuuta or the Cassette Vision.

Not unless I go down the ROM road. I may do a few on the X68000 since my friend owns one of those and also a PC88 however I'd have to lug my PC around to his place since he won't allow me to take the systems home. What I will do is record a load of stuff in one sitting and spread it out through the shows each volume IF he's up for a day of gaming.
