I'm looking for the following Tiger Telematics Gizmondo demos/releases: [I was able to find reference to the following file names, but any releases of these games would be great] Alien_Hominid_BETA_GIZMONDO_READNFO-SHiZMO Furious_Phil_GIZMONDO_CRACKED-SHiZMO Golden_Axe_GIZMONDO_READNFO-SHiZMO Johnny_Whatever_GIZMONDO_CRACKED-SHiZMO Quake_GIZMONDO_READNFO-SHiZMO Sonic_the_Hedghog_GIZMONDO_READNFO-SHiZMO The filenames do suggest that all but Furious Phil and Johnny Whatever are just .nfo files, but they would still be good to document either way. Additionally, if any users here used to be active on the now defunct Gizmondo forums, I'd be quite interesting in any files you may have saved from there. Any help in saving this stuff from the abyss would be much appreciated. The Gizmondo is quite an underrated handheld, in my opinion!
I have a pack called "Gizmondo.Collection-SHiZMO" from 2009 that contains these. Give me some time to dig through my cold storage drives.
Just looking at the titles those seem like actual releases, not just NFOs. READNFO would denote that it is a release, but has some important info in the NFO file that you should look at before using. Most likely because that is a beta. The ones that say CRACKED are just saying that they're well.... Cracked lol
No-intro have the following. [Firmware] Gizmondo Service Pack B (E) (Homebrew Enabled) Agaju - The Sacred Path (E) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Ball Busters (E) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Carmageddon (E) (M5) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Catapult (E) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Chicane - Jenson Button Street Racing (E) (M5) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Classic Compendium (E) (M6) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Classic Compendium 2 (E) (M6) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Colors (E) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Conflict - Vietnam (E) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Fathammer Classics (E) (M5) (Cracked by SHiZMO) FIFA Football 2005 (E) (M5) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Gizmondo Demo Card (E) Gizmondo Motocross 2005 (E) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Gizmondo Navigator 2006 (E) (M6) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Hit & Myth (E) (M5) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Hockey Rage 2005 (E) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Interstellar Flames 2 (E) (M5) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Jump (E) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Pocket Ping Pong 2005 (E) (Cracked by SHiZMO) POD - Point of Destruction (E) (M5) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Richard Burns Rally (E) (M5) (Cracked by SHiZMO) SSX 3 (E) (M5) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Sticky Balls (E) (M5) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Supernaturals (E) (Beta) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Toy Golf (E) (Cracked by SHiZMO) Trailblazer (E) (M5) (Cracked by SHiZMO)
Here you go: Gizmondo.Collection-SHiZMO +1. When I finally got a working Giz a few years back almost all sites/forums were long dead. The official/commercial roms are somewhat easy to get, but a lot of the homebrew and especially development-related stuff seems to be MIA.
Thank you, rso! That pack seems rather hard to come by currently. Additionally, I can't even find videos on YouTube or even screenshots for some of those titles, so it's quite a treat. I recently picked up a new Gizmondo without a charger or battery, so I'm waiting on the parts to arrive via post to build my own and get the handheld running. In the mean time I've been working on putting together an archive of all the Gizmondo related files I can find. There isn't too much out there currently available, so I've resorted to searching through the Internet Archive for anything that was saved. Lots of interesting stuff out there; for instance did you know there was a fanzine called "GizzedUp"? I could find 4 of the 5 issues. They're short, but still interesting reads to see how the scene was back then. [apparently there was a member on the forums selling homebrew carts, which might explain Sonic, Golden Axe and Quake in the SHiZMO pack] It's just a shame the Internet archive didn't save much of the Gizmondo forums and thus a large portion of homebrew, dev, and mods; hopefully someone reading this will be able to share some of these lost files and info. Anyways, I did come across the SDK and KGSDK which I saw you request a few years back. Here's a link: http://www.scrameta.net/gizmondo/ Also came across a nice simple tutorial: http://www.edgelib.com/index.php?node=1165
I did not know about GizzedUp. Nice read. "Gizmondo is the new iPod"? erm... more like the new Zune. :b So the KGSDK actually reappeared, huh? How awesome is that! Thanks for the link. Maybe it's time to dig the Giz out of storage again. Btw, I might still dig through my archives if I actually get around to messing with the SDKs, but most, maybe all of the homebrew stuff I downloaded back when seems to be available on github now - on the off chance you haven't seen that yet. (edit - why not start a collection of resources here, for posterity's sake...) Hybrid Graphics' Rasteroid 3.1 renderer (for use with KGSDK) is available here (afaict it was freeware, but the company's been bought and the site closed); They also had some demos on their old site (they look ready to run, i.e. no compilation necessary). Open source alternatives are Vincent and GLUT|ES. Also KG comes with a precompiled Giz specific renderer so they may not be necessary, but might still come in handy.
Yes, the files on github makes up most of my collection too. With the exception of gizSNES that I found on the Internet Archive as well as source codes for mame4all and uae4all. I assembled a quick list of some of the homebrew that is missing, in case you (or anyone reading) might have any of it: (I'll add to it as I come across more dead links) Missing Homebrew: Anti-Virus Software Dark Castle Game Duke Nukem 3d Dust Digger FileMan Gallop Attack GameBox GD; GD_Booter [Shoot 'em' Up Game DI] Giz Explorer Gizmondo Text Book Reader Gsfinder Haalireader Microquad [Mario Kart clone] ModPlayer PanCE Quick 3D shooter Racer ResInfo See The Stars SID Player SPVMan T2000Ly TCPMP Tetris Game TomTom uBook Xrick Very good idea to start up a collection of resources on here!
