Hi, everyone, I'm trying to look for the full FMV of the Luigi's Mansion Spaceworld 2000 video found on the defunct site NintendoWeb. Here's the appropriate article (pub date: Sep 8, 2000) preserved on the Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/20010308231903/http://www.nintendoweb.com/features/demoluigi.html. Due to the Wayback Machine's old habit of not crawling webpages and large files back in the day, they did not archive any of the three videos linked on the aforementioned web page. This is unfortunate because I've searched all over the web for the full uncut video of Luigi's Mansion from Spaceworld 2000, which is likely the 6.14M MPEG file on the page. Alas, no luck. But thank goodness they crawled every image in the article, right? The Wayback Machine at least got that right. But before I get started, I need to tell everybody about the widespread, well-known, heavily cut, eight-second footage from Spaceworld 2000. But before I do that, see this video of the eight-second reel of Luigi's Mansion. Please excuse the bad quality: Unfortunately, and it's pretty obvious, as you can see from the video, this reel was heavily edited. On some of the Spaceworld 2000 videos I found, after the mansion is presented, you can see Luigi creak open the door and then face the viewer. Even this footage itself is pretty rare: https://ia801506.us.archive.org/10/items/NintendoGamecubeSpaceWorld2000/Nintendo%20Gamecube%20Space%20World%202000.mp4. All of the FMV sequences in the E3 2001 LM trailer were recycled from the Spaceworld 2000, evident from the images on the NintendoWeb web page that I linked and namely its publication date. This includes the depressed Luigi at the end of the E3 2001 trailer! If anybody has these three MPEG Luigi's Mansion files from that NintendoWeb link, you will have my eternal gratitude. Luigi's Mansion fans will kill for this. Even one or two of the videos will make me happy.
Eric used to be active on Nintendorks - maybe someone there could tell you where to find him? Maybe he still has the files?
Uhh... I registered, I suppose. But on Nintendorks, I believe you need an invitation code. Oh, and is the site you're referring to nintendorks.net?
That's the one. I don't have an account so can't help with an invitation, I'm afraid. Did you manage to sign up without an invitation code? If not, use their contact form and say you don't seem to be able to register but were looking for help finding old videos from Nintendoweb and wondered if they could put you in touch with Eric. http://nintendorks.net/contact/
This would be an amazing find, I've been trying to find the FMV for a long time now. The NintendoWeb page has screenshots and dead links with file sizes right by them. This would help tremendously with the TCRF prerelease article I have also been working on for a while now. I'll try to help out the best I can as well. Although, no guarantees I can pull it right out of my pocket. Another important piece of information is that the FMV was shown behind closed doors at Spaceworld, much like the controller demo.
By the way, if anybody has the MPEG videos linked on to this article: http://web.archive.org/web/20010730154013/http://www.nintendoweb.com/previews/gc/luigi.html, then please share them.
Have you tried google? Heres 405 video files for Luigi's Mansion. https://archive.org/details/lm-e32001videos On the bottom right under "Download Options" click on MPEG4 which has 40 files from the E3 demo "This is a collection of videos related to the beta Luigi's Mansion, most of all the E3 2001 one."
Again, none of the Gamerweb files are in that collection Syclopse linked to—this entire topic is about finding those videos, which we're having a hard time doing.
