    Hey guys

This is an unused Sega Saturn Dev console. It has the name and serial number of a Japanese software company on the console, controller, power cable, av cable, and instructions. The software company is Japanese and didn't make any software for the Saturn.

You can see some pics here:

Any idea of what it's worth? Any help you can give would be appreciated.

    Eric,

You want the good news or the bad news first? ;)

The good news is that the system looks to be in prime shape. You don't often see dev units with such high quality. After all, they're typically well used.

The bad news is that by itself the system is quite incomplete and can't do much. If you can find a hobbyist looking for a spare unit or a collector trying to finish off an incomplete dev kit, you should be able to sell easily. By itself though this is little more than a region free Saturn and will sell in that price range.

In case you're wondering, the VCD port on the side of the Saturn is not the same thing as the VCD port in the back of the Saturn. The one of the side is Virtual CD and can run emulated CD images with hardware from Mirage IIRC.

Which company had that dev saturn? It may fill up some numbers in the list of third party numbers.

Hey there. Thanks for the info. I have a gaping hole in my knowledge of dev systems. I didn't know you could use the system on it's own; I thought you needed more hardware. Region free is always cool, tho. :)

The company is Atelier Double. The serial number is 97001.

Ah yes, indeed. That's a standard production Saturn, modified for use with a CartDev system. As it stands, it isn't really worth that much more than a standard Saturn, as it is in effect just that without the rest of the system.

Whilst there are fewer of these than retail units, they do turn up fairly often. Of course, the CartDev itself is harder to obtain ;)

Still, a nice example of a machine, and still boxed!

at least with CartDev Rev.B didn't the console itself come in the normal retail box and the DevBox in its own box - blue Cross Products box?
mine was like that way. not sure about the Rev.A though since it's much larger in size.
