I got a Game Doctor SF3 that seems to have a broken floppy drive in it. All the other copier functions work fine (using menu, playing cartridges, backing up to memory) but the floppy drive just makes a buzzing noise when a disk is inserted, and the SF3 says 'please insert disk'.

I actually had another (basically brand new) Mitsumi floppy drive around so I disassembled the copier to replace it only to find that the pin connectors are different. The SF3 had a 26pin slimline Mitsubishi drive in it while my new drive is 38pin.

I don't claim to be an expert on floppy drives, but any way I can repair the original drive or connect a 38pin drive to a 26pin connector? Or can somebody just recommend me a good replacement 26pin drive to buy? (I had a look on ebay to see if i could find the same model of drive but turned up nothing).

you can actually get a 38-pin header and follow the wiring diagrams that are out there to pin it properly. i also believe there are adapters out in the wild, i had one for my profighter Q

Some people have replaced those floppy drives with floppy emulators as well:
