Was Red Star that was finished but due to collapse of Acclaim didn't get released?
mate of mine was talking about copy of it and will bring his copy weekend...

I just wondering whether it has been leaked somehow?
I'm guessing he has the rip of the copy himself... otherwise he'd shown me the disc already... o_O

It's finished, I saw finished packed retail game/boxes at acclaim. However they were under lock and key and guarded.

I only saw perhaps 50 copies in the room. It's sure to be super rare if they haven't destroyed them by now.

    Game is horrid.

you sure that wasnt a beta release, still im shocked no one ever dumped the translated version of rent a hero since alot of magazines reviewed it.

  7. ...The clue was in the 'unsigned' extension, but the release was the full gold build tho :)

...So 'no' it isn't a beta build, it's just an unsigned retail build.

Posting here instead of making a new thread.
What's the difference between the leaked e3 ps2 version and the retail ps2 version? Except for Acclaim logos, ofc.

:O I really liked it, lol. (yes I know your post is 11 years old lol)

    Like, in game?
I just played it for a bit and seems to me like it's identical to the Xbox version.
Tbh the Xbox version is the one I've played a lot, I haven't played the retail PS2 version at all.

The only disks I know of are a handful of pressed silver disks. I only have Juiced and Combat Elite for Acclaim ones though. I know Red Star exists based on a testing Xbox from VMC having a save. Those are neat because they work on retail Xboxes.

Plus recordable review copies of course, like the one I have.

And I know for a fact that the opening attract? scene is early, all storyboarded. I recorded a video. I forget all the other stuff, its been years since I looked at it

    What does "storyboarded" mean?
Yeah man, I've skimmed through your video. Your place is the go to place for unreleased/prototype videos. Good quality.

I didn't notice that when playing it so I looked through the files and its "title.bik" not "attract.bik".

The Red Star Xbox and PS2 discs got sent to reviewers but before the game could release Acclaim tanked. This was in 2004. In 2007 the game got released, although only the PS2 version. According to a dev of the game I was talking to just a week or two ago about this very game (due to Kendo selling his PS2 review disc from 2004) there are some subtle differences between the released PS2 and Xbox version that Borman is currently selling. According to him the Xbox version is superior, although I didn't ask for details about as to why. The 2004 PS2 release is identical (apart from some intro logos etc.) from the 2007 version according to him.

I remember playing a demo of it back when it was hidden on an XBOX magazine demo disc. I need to see if I still have that one. Don't remember much about the gameplay itself.
