It was cancelled, so I'm assuming what he has is just a mockup. If not, then what does it do?

It most likely wouldn't be able to do anything now. It was a game-on-demand system, completely online to what I understand. That's if it's a working prototype?

It appears to be a prototype, entirely hand made. I'm going over it electrically and mechanically to ensure nothing terrible will happen if I power it on. I'm also imaging the HDD to see what might be there. My fingers are crossed that the HDD works.

I'm not sure there was a back-end service running when they created these. One of these later "game receiver" prototypes was taken to E3 and demonstrated.

I'll know more in a few weeks after I've gone over it. I'll also have a better set up for taking photos.

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection

I bought it new last year. It was just sitting in a game store, completely new with download codes and everything

Here's an interisting Chinese GameBoy bootleg thing that comes with 27 games on it :D
My uncle found it on his China trip and bought it for us (my sisters and me). Most games on it aren't that good but it contains a few gems such as like as the original Duck Tales that was released on the NES and a few puzzle games I loved.
To switch games you have to push the button on the cartridge.

And this is an F-Zero AX license card. Just found a used Japanese F-Zero GX on Amazon and got this including this awesome card.

Here's a Star Fox Assault Cardboard figure I have got for only 5 bucks on a Retro Convention in Bochum :p

Another rarity is the GameCube Action Replay Max Metal Edition. Really sad this awesome product was replaced by the crappy one that claims to be compatible with the Wii.. But this little thing aroused my passion in game hacking :D

My personal dear is the original USB Gecko that brought me deep into Hacking! With this device I have made the hilarious codes PBG gamer uses and made the Wind Waker Chaos Edition :p

Well... Rarest thing I own is Warcraft Adventures build. It's same as was shown on YouTube walkthrough by other owner - there's no CG videos, but you could play full game running from dev-menu. Actually, I think only one version will be available ever - some of dev's made that build in a moment when game was cancelled by Blizzard.
Absolutely not sure if I'll ever publish it somewhere or sell it. I wrote a letter to Blizzard couple of years ago offering publishing of that build online for archival purposes and one "important person" answered me to hold that idea. It was not "NEVER do it", more like "NOT now". So... that's my story

    Some interesting facts:
    - It seems you need exactly Windows 95 version to run that game. But it works fine from Win95 Virtual Machine.
    - As far as I know there's no copy saved in Blizzard office.

There were kit distributed before the GC's launch that didn't run at full speed.

I don't know the reason it is called 'DS'. I think it had to do with compatible hardware, but I have never gone looking for a real answer.

    D2+D3 were 1/2 speed, D3.4 and D4.4 were 3/4 speed.
    (pic of a 3/4: http://assemblergames.com/l/threads...t-yes-its-compatible-with-regular-cube.35685/)

    D1...............HW1_Drip (4MB RAM prototype)
    D2...............375/150 clocked HW1
    D3...............375/150 clocked HW2
    D3.4, D4.4....486/162 clocked HW2
    D5...............Final spec

There are not many custom modified Mega Drive ~ 32X combo's out there, but it's a tailor made product, so in a way there is an infinitive supply and thus not really rare. It's a very cool custom though.

I have to say that my 7 copies of gamma attack for the Atari 2600 is definitely very very rare and obscure!
