Hi all! I had a couple questions about the PS3 memory card adapter that lets you use PS2 memory cards on a PS3.

Can I use it to transfer PS1 saves to my PS3 using this and a PS1 memory card?

Can I use it to transfer a PS2 save created on my CECHA01 PS3 to the PS2 memory card?

Can I use it to back-up my saves to my PC?

You can actually use it to install PS2 FreeMCBoot from the PC with that adapter via a program

Yes to all your questions. However, the PC driver is not supported by Sony, so use at your own risk, etc.

I tried using PS1 memory card on unofficial adapter and it didn't recognize it.

It seems some of the dodgy adapters don't claim to support PS1 memory cards. Considering their origins, who knows how accurate the advertising is.

Based on its manual (http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/game/mcsavedata.html), yes.

Yes. This is its primary purpose.

    No.
But you could copy the saves to a USB disk, with your PS3.

Thanks for all of the info guys! Looks like I'll have to track one down then.

I have been doing this already but I was hoping I could go directly to the PC. Oh well, it isn't too much of a hassle so I'll stick with flash drives.

You can save to your PC directly, there are unofficial USB drivers.
