    Hi All,

Have the opportunity to buy this,

The console sounds like it may suffer from YLOD, the seller says that it can randomly switch off during game play.

Warranty seals are still intact, the question is, what is it worth and what should I pay ? I have never bought a test console before.

    Cheers

the 40gb model is the one that is less desirable because it doesn't have the native ps1 ps2 support. so go from there, i would say 250 tops if ylod at random.

Given the cost of the reballing, and possible permanent damage, I would pay $80 at the most as you'll need to put $120+ into it to get it working (maybe)

You need to do a lot of work on that model. Replace the psu, change out the heat sink materials and pads, change the fan.

After all that it's still just a test machine with limited value as it lacks the backwards compatibility.

Really, it's the worst test unit you could seek out.

All ps3 models can play PS1 games. Its only PS2 some lack the ability to play.

Glad you got it at a decent price. Reballing is expensive in the UK, maybe bad_ad84 knows an affordable place. You'll need to order lead balls from aliexpress or you'll get ylod again eventually.

What model is it, from CECH(G-J)?

CECHG's were infamous for hardware/BD failure, CECHH on the hardware is more reliable
