Thanks If I want to resume: -PS2 Test: total freezone but not FreeMCBoot -PS2 FAT classic: total freezone via FreeMCBoot for PS2, HDD game....but zone for PSX game (some of game can be run with popstarter) I think for no programmer, the best choice is classic PS2 FAT, I use PS2 US because my PSX favorite is in US version (FF, Xenogears, Chrono cross...) for arcade game like Street fighter or Shoot them up pospstarter run well. I am french but the US version is better.
Technically, a DEX is region-free in terms of region-locking. But its PlayStation ROM is coded for only either PAL or NTSC. If you boot an imported/out-of-region game on the set, then the video will not get displayed properly. Newer units can support FMCB/FHDB. A modded fat PS2 can also boot master discs - as it'll simply ignore the fact that it isn't a pressed PlayStation 2 disc.
What do you mean by "Newer units can support FMCB/FHDB", Fat dont support it? only Slim, or from wahat rev FAT can be works.... I can prepare a HDD PS2 format with all apps and iso...can I do run it with debug test and classic network adpter? Thanks
The first DEX units that got made (DTL-H100xx and DTL-H300xx) do not support FMCB/FHDB because they could not decrypt MagicGate files. The newer DEX units (DTL-H101xx and DTL-H301xx, and later) are able to decrypt MagicGate files, hence they can support FMCB/FHDB. If the DEX can support FMCB/FHDB, then it works like a CEX (PlayStation 2) console.
thanks you very much. Last question, debug PAL console are full retro compatible with PSX NTSC U or J or maybe problem, I think with component cable no reason but if you know.....
DEX units are region-free, although their PlayStation drivers are still hardcoded to support the region that the DEX was made for (i.e. PAL DEX -> outputs PAL video). As a result, booting an out-of-region PlayStation game on a DEX will likely result in the video not getting displayed properly (screen may either get letterboxed or cut off) and the frame rate of the game may not be correct. BTW, you should have probably created your own thread or just PM'ed me. This thread has already been derailed quite badly LOL.
