Well, I was doing a thorough cleaning and all was good. I was putting everything back together but then I managed to bend the spring. Now it won't open, and I don't know what to do. Should I try bending or cutting it? Maybe someone here has encountered this problem and has found a suitable replacement before? Please help me! I'm losing hope fast lol

I figured it out, I had the lid spring positioned wrong, there was no tension so it wouldn't open. Sorry for any troubles

Just how badly did you bend the spring? The lid spring is pretty thick, and it also has bends in it by design in order to provide anchor points for opening/tension.

Need a new spring. Harbor Freight has a box of assorted springs you can get for $7 or so and includes so many springs in it. One of them has to be what you need.

You can't just bend it back?

PSone lid would open without the spring. Used always see broken PSone lids at people's houses.

Although I did bend it, i put the spring in the wrong way like a moron. The bend I made was insignificant, I put it in the right way and it works perfect. It's just embarrassing, because I did the same thing with the dreamcast. I didn't bend the dreamcast spring, just put it in the wrong way like this time.

    Same situation, different console lol
