Ura Zelda/Zelda Prototype for 64DD Blue Disk was dumped. (This is big stuff!!)

64DD emulation is possible in MESS, but the dump isnt running yet.

It appears to be code that is pre-ura(ish), but still a release: http://bsxproj.superfamicom.org/64dd/dump/

That's pretty big with no info. Has the person that dumped it bothered to share anything about it anywhere? They must have tested it on a console, at least.

Hopefully more info gets put out. This sounds pretty neat.

Awesome ! Seen this when it was uploaded (the news was posted on "The-GCN" forum which I follow because it's an awesome Zelda 64 modding community). But I'm afraid because it was uploaded on April 1st so...

It's in a separate red table, with "(April Fools)" written beside it. I think we can assume it is an april fools. I wonder what is inside the ROM though :p

Whatever that fake Ura Zelda image is, it crashes during the 64DD's startup animation in MESS, unlike other games. It does contain a few hundred or so valid Yaz0-compressed blocks of data, at least some of which are proper scene and room files (ex. Hyrule Field) from some version of OoT, but I have no idea what the rest of the data is - probably garbage, but made to look like a proper 64DD image? Haven't looked any deeper into it because I expected it to be an April Fools joke.

Hiccup: It was in the main table yesterday, without the April Fools tag. Must've been changed sometime earlier today.

It's an april fools joke. Never trust a proto release on april 1st.

That being said seeing the Super Mario 64 Disk Version as a downloadable on the same page did surprise me, I did not expect a dump of this rarity to show up like this!

Take off the system area (first 0x738C0 bytes) and replace with a standard 0x1000 cart header. Boot address is 80001000, recalc the checksum, get some popcorn.

Yeah, I showed Jimmy a link to this site about how to dump 64DD games, so it's thanks to ME!

Is the Mario 64 DD version quite different from the N64 released version?

Is there a list of differences anywhere?

I'll be cataloguing the releases over here as well, just to make sure everything is nicely organized in one place.

I've been told that there are a few aesthetical differences, some internal files not present in the final build, and some of the bosses crash the game. Everything else appears to be identical to the final JP ROM.

There are a lot of instruments deleted in the n64dd version, and a couple added. I'm not certain if maybe they use the IPL instruments for those, or just weren't necessary. The sequences seem a little different as well, although I'm not as familiar with that format.

Thanks to someone who had way too much money for this, I present you the prototype ROM of Sound Fantasy, which was still named Sound Factory at the time:
    http://bsxproj.superfamicom.org/snes/sound.zip

I also made lots of vids:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75-5YNWGqaA

Also, that Ura Zelda was an April Fools joke. Zoinkity just helped you how to get the actual joke that no one has ever found for some reason.
