    Hi All,

Picked up a Icedcube W/Cobra Mod chip (Ver1.6) with a few back up games today, I have never ventured in to GC mods or 3rd party shells etc so was the price tag of £49.99 worth paying ? It all looks to work I haven't actually got it in my hands yet it is being shipped as we speak.

Is the use of the full Icedcube shell just to used standard size DVDs for back ups ?

    Here is a picture;

    Cheers in advance

The case is just so you can use cheaper full size dvds.

Too bad it's not one of the more exotic colors.

It's a not for profit that makes their own special cases, it's not official 1st party merchandise.

Icedcube case is probably worth 50 quid alone... So you've done well.

They could probably survive a nuke, they are so over built as required by laws.

An issue of a premodded console is the wear and tear of running who knows how hours of burned discs. A question of the burned disc quality and that they already do make the read head work harder in tracking wearing it out quicker.

Not the gamecube but I did see a n64 one a long time ago, they drilled holes through the carts and put chains on them

I have a transparent shell for my modded cube. I picked up the console for $20 including controller at a local store, then ordered the xenogc chip for around $20 after shipping. Finding a viper shell was pretty tough, I pm'ed someone on here who was selling them years ago in a last ditch attempt. Luckily he had some still but only the clear ones. I forget what I paid but it was a good deal.

I hardly use the thing anymore, although I did use it to play MGS: The Twin Snakes since I never played MGS1 before. Disc switching was very frustrating, took almost 25 tries before it accepted the 2nd disc. For anyone else who has this same problem, all I can say is keep trying and eventually it will work.

All in all it was mostly a fun little project to test my soldering and tool using skills. I'm pretty proud of the thing but don't know what to do with it now. Here are the pictures of the results: http://imgur.com/a/ISOEs

    Here's a preview:

    Hey guys,

Sorry been away over Easter, thanks for all the info.

I collected the parcel from my local sorting office today and I have just had a look at the bottom and it has this USB adapter, I assume that is for updating bios etc ?

Yes, it's to plug into the computer via USB. You can also load software via it iirc

Consoles should all be black, or Nintendo grey imo. I really dislike the orange GameCube, but I think orange is an awful colour to begin with. I agree with the above poster in that silver consoles look odd too, I remember the PS2 tried it as well as the GameCube and it just made the units look cheap, but then this comes from a time in the early 2000s where all electronics were silver for a bit, before going black again.
