    Seriously? WTF?

I'm almost certain this has to do with Geohot modding the hypervisor, but WTH, just patch the hypervisor, don't make me dump my Fedora install just so I can connect to PSN.

I'd almost say this is bound for a lawsuit, class action style. I know there are people/organizations out there that bought the PS3 just for the OtherOS options. Is Sony going to offer an alternate build just for those people?

I am sad to read this also, it's not about what you are able to do with it but losing a feature!
On the otherside I am cry all I want but at the end of the day I actually never use OtherOS due to the pain in the ass way to switch between both OSs.

That depends on the license agreement etc.

In practice i don't think people who use the Linux option professionally ever need to log onto psn and buy Flower or something.

Yeah, too bad, now they give me the last reason I needed to sell my phat. And no, I won't get a slim instead. Sony just lost a customer.

While sucks not a big loss for me. A devkit is better then a horrible setup via OtherOS.

I really question what people are using it for if it's such a big loss. I know for organizations that used them as servers/number crunchers, this isn't an issue because they aren't going to update. If someone is using it as a PC setup with their TV. Just buy a freaking small pc or a Mac Mini (with linux or windows installed). Those are 20x more practical then OtherOS.

    --edit--
If you're going to sell your unit over this, you're a fucking looser. Seriously if it's such a big deal that you'll sell the unit. Then just don't fucking update.

Sony is really good at taking features away with "upgrades".

I agree with you, while it's a loss.. It won't bother me much.. OtherOS 256meg ram is freaking slowwwwwww and not worth the hustle.
I have had it installed for years now, but only used it maybe 5 times, from these 5 times there was so much time in between that I forgot how slow it actually was.. and always after booting it up I got depressed.

Was expecting some 360 fanboys to flood the thread with laughter.. but school is not out yet I guess :)

Who the **** cares. If previous features where so important they would have bought a system early on. Instead everybody bitched that price was more important then features.

Sony also in general adds more features then other companies. They also don't charge for said updates (like apple does) nor do they lock out those new features only for those who fork out an additional $50 a year for them (X360).

To be fair i think as much as we know how much apple love to charge for updates aren't they forced to due to some legal issue?

You wonder why i delete your posts so often?
