PC Engine games with Dolby Surround? and other older systems?

I'm presuming the original Pro Logic format, does any body have a list of PC Engine games with dolby surround soundtracks?

One's im aware of, not through actual experience mind, so take this as hearsay until proven:

    Rainbow Islands CD
    Super Darius CD
    Dungeon Explorer

Or on any other systems from around the time, obviously these days surround formats are a given, wonder what the first game was, dungeon explorer maybe??

It's possible that the Neo Geo conversions may do since the Super Famicom versions are in Dolby Surround (Art of Fighting 1 & 2, Samurai Spirits and Fatal Fury Special)

That's cool, it would be rad to hear about any systems games that have dolby surround too from around the time.

I think Super Metroid does. I haven't played it for a while, though, so I'm not sure.

They will play four channels of audio if using a decoder? That's cool!

Many CPS1-2-3 games and Sega CD games used Q-Sound.

sorry for the bump, i'm still interesting in having documented what older generation games carry matrixed surround tracks.

I have read online that Castlevania IV does (unconfirmed), and as above maybe Super Metroid.

Samurai Spirits was never released on PCE, I think you want to say World Heroes 2.

Dracula X, Snatcher, and Gradius II, all on CD by Konami, use Roland Sound Space for some kind of [simulated] surround effect.

Dungeon Explorer? If you're referring to the little "(((stereo)))" symbol that shows up on its title screen, then I doubt that's Dolby Pro Logic. It's just stereo.

I'm not sure where I read about dungeon Explorer having DPL, I suppose that can be written off if it doesnt say so on the box.

Triad Stone for Mega LD has Dolby surround for sure, I imagine a few other Laseractive games do.

How do you mean....you need an amp capable of decoding dolby pro logic to get the surround sound from these games, any capable one will do from a stereo input.

Thanks for the input with those RPG's.

Most old games just used some placebo effects to simulate surround sound, it wasnt actually matrixed. Qsound needed your speakers to be set up in a certain way, thats all I remember from it. Using headphones also improved the effect in many many games.

Yes, others do to. Look for the "RSS" logo. I believe I had started a list a while back...

Super Turrican(and I assume Super Turrican 2)is also a Dolby Surround game(and the result is really amazing with the great music and sound effects).

Yep, especially when you use the laser thing. As it goes around the screen you can hear is behind you. There are many games on the SFC / SNES with Dolby Surround but what Is odd that there are hardly any on the PlayStation or Saturn. In fact the only Saturn game I know of with Dolby Surround is Croc.

Publishers need to have their games certified by Dolby Labs in order to put the trade mark Dolby logo's on their packaging. For this reason pubishers will often support matrixed sound but not mention Dolby. Even recent games on the Wii do this. Wii Fit and Bomberman Land Wii have matrixed sound but do not have Dolby certification.

From memory some games that show Dolby Surround on the packaging are: [sfc] Vortex, [sfc] King Arthur's World, [sfc] Jurassic Park, [ps1] Assault Rigs, [ps1] Over Drivin' IV, [ps1] Final Fantasy IX, [ps1] Perfect Striker, [ps1] Pro Pinball Big Race USA, [ps1] Formula One '99, [ps1] Descent, [ps1/sat] Fifa '96, [n64] Donkey Kong 64, [n64] Perfect Dark, [n64] Zelda: Majora's Mask, [n64] Banjo 2, [3do] Shockwave, [3do] Return Fire

These are the known SFC games that support Dolby Surround and mention it in game.

Art of Fighting 2 - Takara / KAC
    Fatal Fury Special - Takara
    Flintstones - Ocean
    Jurassic Park - Ocean
Jurassic Park Part 2 - Ocean
    King Arthur's World - Jaleco
    Samurai Spirits (Showdown) - Takara
    Super Turrican - Factor 5
    Super Turrican 2 - Factor 5
    Vortex - Argonaut ?

and apparently Rise of the Robots as well but I can't remember that showing a Dolby Surround logo.
