Just wondering what a Saturn "Silver" of Panzer Dragoon Saga would go for these days? Being that the normal game on ebay goes for ~$350.
Same as "Burn" copy, as one need a modded Saturn to play it. I had some silver copies of Saturn games, most of them have one color silk screen printed on the disc itself and came with simple 1 sheet insert(crop from down from the full case to CD size). Color insert, if you are lucky, else simple black and white copy. They were worth something when no one can afford CD burner back then.
That's is incorrect, silver discs will play on a retail Saturn as they are made from the test pressing of the retail game. Often given out as instore demos or review copies.
I think the "silver" CD joysan was asking about was the HK silver CD. As the CD was pressed on regular CD press. Those "silver" CD will not play on retail Saturn without modding.
I have silver discs of Gensou Suikoden and Bushidoretsuden and they do not play on a normal japanese Saturn.
wouldn't be obvious unless sactioned by Sega all other non-leit won't play on normal Saturn without mod chip?
The thread is going bit off topic. The OP was asking if the non-legit silver copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga is worth now. Actually, I can make the burn copy of it look better silver version. Because I can use my color inkjet printer to print the original CD covers on each discs. Well won't look the same as the original, but better than the silver version.
Cool, thanks for the feedback all. To clarify, this is a LEGIT Silver of Panzer Dragoon Saga (you can play this game without a boot or hack and has the in ring information of "SEGA" or something like that (I cannot remember as it is in storage right now). I got this as I worked for SEGA and the producer gave me it. I guess pictures would be helpful but im lazy right now. Just to prove a bit that I am an ex-sega employee you can check out my current auctions on ebay. Getting rid of some of my collection to fund my MAME project. My ebay user name is jody76 or do a search for "prototype AFO" or "prototype PSO". SO, what do guys/gals think this bad boy is worth knowing that it is legit?!
Most of the time on Ebay, I have seen legit prototype and demo version fetch more than the retail version of popular games.
If it's just a HK Chinese silver, then it's pretty worthless. If it's an actual pressed disk with the Saturn copyright ring on it, then there is some value to be had for sure.
Hey Jodysan, all I can offer from experience of selling Saturn silvers and Dreamcast white labels is that generally the rarer or more sought after games on these pre production test pressings sell for more than the retail counterparts. You just have to find the right collector.
This is a price check - moved to the correct forum. However, you should post a validation photo if it's yours, as per the rules. You're taking it off topic! Saturn silvers are GENUINE - they ARE the retail discs before silk screening, so they are silver as there's no printing on them. They don't need anything, other than the correct region Saturn. Chinese copies are bootlegs, not silvers. Back on topic... PAL or NTSC?
