I managed to buy one of the earliest made Sega Saturns on eBay recently, serial is B40000411.

Below are photos I took of it.

Interesting, there is a bundled MPEG card inside or it's a dev unit ?

No MPEG card was bundled with the unit and its a very early retail launch unit.

    It's a HST-3200, VA0 model with a socketed BIOS.

Sorry to bump on my own old thread. I was wondering if anyone has ever come across any older Sega Saturn units than mine? :p

When I saw this baby on eBay last year, I snatched it up literally the next second! :D

How many LED lights does it use for the power and the access displays. The true early models used two for each section plus had a different font for the power and access text.

My va0 has the double LEDs for power and access. I always thought it was odd and never noticed it on any other Saturn. Unfortunately mine doesn't have a socketed bios.

Ah, well that is a sigh of an early Saturn for sure. Only the very first production run had the Double LEDs for the access and Power indicators.

All (Japanese) VA0 units were like that as I recall, and they sold over a million of those.

Cross CartDev Saturns feature both LED. Guess they used the early retail models?
