    Hi dudes,

    I've found this chip

    w1lz.jpg

I've investigated about it but not much info out there; the name is EMSIC4 and I've done the modifications according to this blog http://john2kx.blogspot.com.es/ to transformate it into a 21 pin chip for saturn model 2.
Please, could you tell me how to connect it??

Thank you very much in advance

You'll have to order 21pin connectors from somewhere and solder them on. Provided the modchip works at all.

I have no idea where you can buy them from, but you are looking for 21pin through-hole fpc (or ffc) connectors. Not sure about the pin widths, I think it's 1mm but I may be wrong. APE recently bought a few so he might now where to get them / exactly what type they are.

In the end it would be simpler to just get a new chip.

    Hi buddies,

It seems that I didn't explain it well, sorry for my bad English, my question was about the connections between the modchip and the saturn. The modifications (the modchip is modified according to the link above) are done, I'm waiting for the 74HC158.

I've read that if the chips don't have the cristal you need to connect it to the square/rectangular cd motherboard chip, so I'll need to solder 2 cables in the modchip, one to 5v and the another one to C2 maybe??

    Thanks

You never need to connect anything more than power to the modchip. The clock trace that guides tell you to connect to is in the ribbon cable already. At worst you have to fix an extra line on the chip.

    Hi,

Yesterday I received the 158, I soldered it to the chip, conected to the 5v and it works perfectly in a saturn pal model 2.

Thank you very much for your help

    Un saludo
