After playing the God awful dark knight I also don't want to take the risk of buying this without at least trying it. I've been stung too many times now.

If you watch the 'teaser' video online, the classic 16-bit genesis "SEEEEEE GAAAAAA" logo might change your mind.

Agree. A 2D Sonic game that doesn't suck would be EPIC, but after years of crappy games I'm unable to hope for anything good this time.

I'm not getting my hopes up at all. How many times have we heard the whole "Hey guys, this time we're returning to the roots of Sonic! Promise!" routine already? Well, at least we finally get a 2D Sonic game that's hopefully not developed by Dimps. Ugh.

    I like the project codename.

"Needlemouse" is a literal translation from the Japanese 針鼠 ("harinezumi"), meaning "hedgehog"!

The question is, 2d art, or just 2d gameplay.

    Mr Needlemouse. Heheh.

I'm actually going to get my hopes up for this, I mean it has the old Sega PCM sound, 2D Gameplay? Speed? It's going to be inspired from the original trilogy for sure. Just don't mess this up Sega.

    Meh.

Here's to hoping this post becomes the most quoted, since it accurately sums up the feelings of possibly everyone ever.

I have a sneaking suspicion that making a good 2D Sonic game is a lost art despite Sega's hypothetical good intentions on this one. But we'll see.

yeah but we all knwo that most reviews we read are full of shit. Best to try before you buy unless you know it's going to be good.

The silhouette of the logo certainly looks very retro. I'm actually a little bit excited by this.

If they fuck this up,they have fucked up as hard as they did in the end of the genesis/megadrive era, which paved/destroyed the way for saturn and dreamcast
