Anyone here used the recently released script to decrypt a NAND dump? Find any interesting files? Could you post patches for the ROMs?

what's involved in dumping / reflashing the nand? I take it you still have to solder into the points on the motherboard?

I was watching a video on YouTube last night where a guy did that, but he gutted his NES classic and fitted it with a pi.

someone needs to clone the UI of the classic, it is the best emulator front end I have ever seen, a lot tend to over complicate things..

    Keep it stupid simple.

I could do without some bits like the QR codes linking to online manuals, for example, but overall I'm with you. That RetroArch XMB? Way too overloaded for the average end luser that just wants to play teh gaemz, bruh - >80% of it should be hidden behind an "advanced mode" toggle.

Yep, I wouldn't want to use its case for something else, because then it's exactly what you already have on your laptop or $30 retropi, etc. I agree that we should just seek to learn more about the emulator, and to be able to add games to its existing software.

The only reason to mod/hack this thing is "because i can". Wii + CRT is waaay better. For HDMI there's pi and a LOT of similar things which can easily run everything up to DC emulators.
For Retroarch... Mednafen pure CLI interface on PC is waay more intuitive than convoluted mess which is Retroarch GUI.

Try it on a Sansa some time.

We're also still waiting for a CD-i port.

So, there's a russian dude who claims he managed to flash battletoads on there.
But, he says, it crashes on level 2.
He also says he's working on an exploit package for users but it's not yet ready for public release.
You can get it via pm, over at gbx.ru, but it's not very stable.

So you're telling us to contact him to preorder Battletoads?

Honestly, I didn't find that static image of the menu screen, with no interaction and nothing ingame, too convincing. But more power to him if he actually did it. Hopefully he manages to add the games and not just replace existing ones, otherwise you'd probably be reflashing a lot, 30 game slots would seem rather limiting.

Convoluted? Maybe if you are too dense to figure out how to configure an emulator. And aside from overrides and the occasional playlist issue, Retroarch is the easiest to configure Emulator interface and it can all be done with a controller.

Any emulator that would assume basic settings for every user would end up only angering another crowd because it doesn't work with their specific setup out of the box. The only reason The NCM UI works, is because it is geared and designed around one exact specific function and play set and that's it. No other emulator front end that handles multiple platforms could ever work the same.

    There is no perfect solution.

No, I'm retelling his post. Me personally, I'm not telling you to do anything.
He said he's not posting the software publicly because it's too unstable atm and could easily brick your device if applied incorrectly. That's why you have to PM him if you *still* want to try it, in which case you'll get a download link.
