I doubt it. Cost was far too high when you can put that much on a house down payment. What orange lid?

I doubt it sold, 5 grand is a lot for orange plastic. Would've been good if it didn't end up eBay, when you barely spend a lot to grab it originally looking for a major profit isn't good. Even since I was told it wouldn't be sold.

The orange top, well many of those were made and sat in mm206's office for some time. Many are just probably sitting in boxes somewhere.

Lost cause. At least he showed it to everyone before becoming incredibly greedy like every other person that finds rare stuff.

It seems many have been shying away from that recently. It's like they only want auctions and nothing else. The fact of reaching 'top dollar' shouldn't even be considered on items like this.

And the fact is that no one wants to pay thousands for a case. There just isnt a market that would allow something like this to go for 5 digits. That starts getting into actual, rare prototype hardware range.

I can now officially CONFIRM that this XBOX sold recently to a private collector in the Seattle area for : $15,000 cash. It is going to be part of a video game museum.

Also for reference, high res pics of it: http://minus.com/mGVUI15viCgQi

And the youtube video from the above comment came from:

Glad its going to a museum, but that is way too much still in my opinion.

I do not know of an actual museum here nor do I know the buyer. The closest thing we have to any museum about video games is EMP which occasionally changes the museum to Science Fiction or they had the Star Wars costume display for a while. My guess is its someone's store front or garage.

15k... for a case! I'd rather spend 15k on a Supra, and it has a purpose.

At least there's something positive from this... It's going to a museum. Not sitting in someone's wardrobe.

Yeah, good finds are far and few between. I once bought a 2005 LT xbox 360 set for $50 and turned it on ebay years back for $3k.

Emilio and I took some pix at PRGE. I'm still unpacking from the event but he asked me to update this thread and the wikipedia article on the whole thing. Will likely get to it this weekend
