I've been wondering this myself. We've had back and forths about modchips but now that I'm selling off my spare stock I'm finding people with problems getting the chips to work despite them being sent out 100% working. They can't all be dead by virtue of the USPS and they don't return to me dead.

They could be connecting them in the wrong direction or so, most chips aren't market for input/output and even use two-sided connectors so you can't even tell which way the ribbon goes in.

Also the fact that all modchips available right now are cheaply made crap that sometimes doesn't even work, period. You can prod the traces and hope that the problem is just something connected wrongly on the pcb, like a timing signal connected to the wrong pin, but most of the times the microcontrollers are just dead or defective or never even worked.

And no, I don't have a site. I was working on a big one but I can only work on it sparingly, when it helps with my job.

That's what I thought the last time too, with the V3 chips...

Feedback actually goes to someone who can make changes, rather than someone who just orders them from china.

You will get test boards, dont worry.

Can't wait to be able to do feedback then :)

also, hoping that the code you managed to get is omnicompatible. Some of those chips just don't work with some drives no matter the pinout.
