The fact that the only game that's currently selling on the Wii U is the latest crappy Mario Kart kind of contradicts this...

To be fair MK8 is a great game. I would see your point if we were talking Wii though, that was a crappy Mario Kart.

That's great, although it kind of contradicts what Nintendo has said in the past.

Please? Anything along the lines of GX would be appreciated, although that game is pretty insanely hard. Even an HD re-release in the vein of WindWaker wouldn't go unnoticed. Just not ideal.

Another Wave Race would also be a solid choice. As well as another 1080. Last of both of those werefor the GC, I believe. Seems to be after that they kind of abandoned a lot of those.

Nintendo coerced third parties to release hardcore games for the system on launch, but they didn't sell all that well. Then they got some exclusive hardcore games from third parties as well (some which haven't been released). Look at how terrible Wonderful 101 sold. This doesn't send good signals to them. The root of the problem is that people see Nintendo's products as Mario and Pokemon machines only. Even the veteran gamers pigeonhole them like this, and lots of worthwhile games get overlooked 'cus they're on the Wii, U etc.

I want another Mario game that is similar to all those new 2D ones except they add in some gimmicky feature to try & make it different. Some more mini-game style games that take our favorite titles like Metroid, F-Zero & Starfox & dumb them down into boring "party" games that have no depth whatsoever, that would be nice too. I'd also like another Zelda before we see new games from any other series, because there is never enough of those.

i would like to see a new WaveRace , Earthbound , Eternal Darkness , Mario 128(64+64) :) , the new zelda just like Majora's Mask , metroid , f-zero , and other new IP would be great
i think Nintendo need to return to its Roots ,making games with old skool gameplay (no Handholding , no Dumbed down gameplay , no regenhealth , no waypoints , no objective marks , no QUestMarks , Challenge , Puzzle solving , great game design , great map design)
Nintendo should make Real Games for Hardcore . I hope you all understand what i mean

They made Pikmin 3. Quite frankly I kind of doubt it matters anymore what Nintendo does; they're just doomed to always being accused of being kiddy/mainstream.

And quite frankly I always thought Nintendo Land was more geared towards a hardcore audience considering the obscure references therein.

Pikmin 3 is a first party Nintendo game, the only type of game that makes money on their platforms, and it only sold 210,000 copies. http://nintendoeverything.com/december-2013-npd-lifetime-sales-for-wii-u-and-3ds-titles/ Before I'm told that it's not like they stopped selling it after December of last year successful games almost always sell much more than that in the first months. The hardcore cry that Nintendo won't cater to them, then they don't buy their games unless it has the usual cast on the cover. It's even worse when they ask for new IPs when older, less mainstream ones don't leave shelves.

You aren't serious right? Crappy? And it's far from casual either, it's one of the few games that perfectly balances between core and casual.

Mario Kart 8 sells because it's an awesome game with plenty of depth. Other games on the platform deserve to sell just as much too, but don't. Simply because MK is like pokemon. It will sell no matter what.

Now if only 3rd parties could stop making shitty ports of games that already exist on other platforms, maybe they'd be surprised by sales?

Who wants what is obviously going to be a half-baked port of a game that is already available somewhere else and offers a better experience?

Ubisoft is rife with stupidity when it comes to this. (In their defense though, Zombi U was simply bad timing. Even though it was a great game) Same thing with EA>

It'd also be nice if great games like Pikmin 3 sold as well as they deserve too.

Nintendo Land is a given, i'm hoping for a sequel. NL is great.

Yes, MK8 is better than MK Wii, but that means nothing considering how atrocious MKW was. MK8 still has overpowered items that can hit anyone from anywhere; until this item lottery shit is completely gone, MK will never be good again. Unfortunately idiots and children like that bullshit, and they're the ones buying Mario Kart. By comparison, Sonic Transformed, a MUCH better game than MK8, has no overpowered items and is skill-based.

I thought the first comment in the article summed it up

All the casual gamers f**ked off?

Oh, and this rings very true, sadly (or not ;) ).

As many already mentioned they need to revive their more niche series like Wave Race, Starfox, 1080, F-Zero.
Also a Mario in the style of Super Mario 64, a Zelda in the style of that one E3 Wii-U tech demo sure wouldn't hurt.
Nintendo has all that useless money in theirs account but no programmers it seems, I'm sure there is a way to have less money and more programmers somehow.
