Mission to crack the Mass Effect 3 Private Beta ,

For years, (since 2011) I have been trying to crack the Mass Effect 3 Private Beta back open. To rejog your memory, it was the build that was accidentally included with the new dashboard for public beta testers to try out. It was floating around in prodnet for a few hours, and then pulled. It had some dramatically different content from the prodrelease. It was very alpha, to the point of Microsoft Sam starring as a voice over. Enough said. Upon booting, the interface requires a "go ahead" signal from BioWare's servers to go anywhere past the main menu. Countless programmers have tried to give this a crack, and with no success unfortunately.

So I am finally reaching out to the ASSEMbler community for some help. -
If you can crack this, in return, I will be giving you the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Pre-Alpha Build (#253) for the Xbox 360. To my knowledge, this was never released, and is considered quite a rare gem. It as well, vastly differs from the prodrelease. Including the cancelled Cobra Day and Night Helicopter Pilot missions, as well as a completely different training (1st) mission, it is well worth your time if you appreciate obscure things like me.

Well of course you'll need to bypass the server check in the xex, could be fairly simple or could be littered with pesky encryption methods. My personal advice would be to ask Lord Zedd on xboxchaos, that dude knows his way around this.

Also a release or 253? .. i have it, would appreciate if it wasn't leaked...

Thankfully the earlier builds have managed to retain their value, the newer builds like 328? hahaha leaked as a leaking pipe

CoD aside, good luck with unlocking! as i said, its really worth shooting zedd a PM, I don't see him having any trouble unlocking it, as he has done it with a ton of games, maybe some money will entice him?

I am no expert, but I guess you tried setting up proxy up to monitor internet requests etc. from your Xbox? Then maybe you could spoof the EA server?

I'm not an expert at all this, or too versed at all.
Just a collector wanting something cracked.

It's probably a shot in the dark without source code. The game likely tried to connect to hard-coded IP addresses (internal ones, maybe?) sending an hard-coded signal. At that point the server (THAT server alone) would've recognized the string and sent back some data. If the data sent back (which could be an escape sequence or a complex encrypted string) matched what the game is expecting, it would let you pass. Best way to crack this would be to bypass the check entirely, or guess the answerback and send it to the game with a proxied or faked server (it is nearly impossible to guess the data though).
Good luck on that, I think that it's not going to be easy. Have you tried to contact a cracking group like Skidrow, FLT, etc. yet?

Give it a try. They are probably the only ones that could ever do it, if they are willing. I'd love to be able to help but, alas, I don't have the expertise required. Too bad, since I love ME3 as well, and seeing this early content would be awesome.

 

Or just ask Zedd, Guy knows a thing or two about activation and betas.

 

Yeah someone reached out to him about this. He said unreal code is never appetizing, and that he gave it a look and has had no luck.
