Being a Dreamcast fan never disappoints, it's so cool how previously unknown items keep on popping up over the years.

Yep. There's at least one more unreleased but completed game out there. Heroes III.

Btw, did you use to hangout over at DCF?

I'm still sad that I missed out on obtaining Heroes III years back when @LeGIt offered it for sale. Thanks to @Tomleecee hard work we now also know there is an actual working build of Colin McRae Rally 2.0 out there, not to forget that complete build of Renegade Racers. Yep it's good being a Dreamcast fan :)

    What's DCF?

Yeah, I'm hoping that CMR2 will get released.

dcforums.co.uk used to be the place for dc isos back in the day.

With the exception of unreleased, demos and beta's I'm not a supporter of copied games for Dreamcast and other platforms, so no I was not on DCF.

Excited to learn more on this one. I'd love to know if the emulation is better and if it came with any roms. The unreleased DC scene is one of the most interesting and exciting in my opinion.

What6 about the Japanese Dream Passport 3 Mega Drive emulator and the PC Engine Emulator? Did anyone ever rip those? I used them back in the day (Games were downloaded from Sega servers). The MD side had crappy audio but the PC Engine seemed to be perfect.

    Nope, it's still unripped.

Is there a reason for that? I would have thought people would love to have the PC Engine side of things.

    I think so too.
But, believe it or not, PCE is not a very well known platform outside of Nippon. Hence the "market" for it is significantly smaller than a SNES or MD emulator, and so it is not a very attractive hacking target? Or, rather, the pool of people interested is rather small which means the pool of people able (and willing) to hack it is even smaller. But this is just me speculating.

There is a rip of Dream Passport 3 with some games for the MD but the PC Engine part doesn't work. So it's kind of half ripped... I'm not saying you're wrong but the MD part is around and it is the Japanese DP 3. I just googled "Dreamcast Dream Passport 3" and look at the Sega Hub post with the nfo. The release group 'Hooligans' tended to just do Japanese releases iirc.

Yes, the actual browser disc has been dumped. While the PCE emulator has not been ripped from it and released as a standalone. AFAIK you had to download PCE roms from Sega's Dreamcast website. Since that is offline the emilator is unusable until someone makes it a standalone.

Yes, that's right. The ROMs were also gone once the power was cut from the Dreamcast. I used the service once just to see what it was like. Games downloaded fast however the price was stupidly high from what I remember.

From what I understand it's based on the same emulator that's found on the sega smash pack. It has been given a proper GUI and maybe some under the hood changes.

After a quick glance, it should be very easy to add/remove roms to it.

The roms are stored in the ROM folder and the romlist is simply MD_EMU/ROMS.LST, a simple file formatted like this:
    <rom_name_in_ROM_folder><tab><Displayed name>

    Example:
    Code:
    AfterburnerII.bin Afterburner II
    #UALADDIN.bin Aladdin
    aliensol.bin Alien Soldier
    astorm.bin Alien Storm
    ALISIA_D.bin Alisia Dragoon
    altbeast.bin Altered Beast (smash pack)
    animan.bin Animaniacs
    arcade.bin Arcade Classics
    batman1.bin Batman
    !BLOODLIN.bin BLOODLIN

I don't know what ! and # are used for, but # is typically a "comment" line but Aladdin is present in the video so idk. According to the same video, ! looks like a comment symbol. # might indicate something regarding the compatibility/mode or settings to use.
