I did some research on stocking the ATTINY's and its just not worth the cost.
However, I am going to stock some mini's, but I do think remapping A4/5 is a good idea for this board.

Fair enough, I have added instructions on how to do so on the wiki.

Would it be more affordable to stock ATtiny4313's or 2313's? I could probably make use of those pretty easily.

Support for ATtiny4313 has just been committed. I don't have any of those, though, so it is untested!

Support for 2313 can be obtained by shrinking the code manually, but I'm going to make that easier.

BTW, did you mean 2313 or 2313A?

Well, I managed to make it fit:
    :p

I had to remove support for the RGB led though. Video mode will be indicated instead by flashing a single led a number of times.

ATtiny24 and ATtiny261 are now properly supported, too. So is ATtiny25 (IGR only), but that was probably already working.

I will order a few 2313A and test them. It will take some time, though. If you can test on your own it would be appreciated. For the moment, the wiring diagram is only included in the code, once it is confirmed working, I will put it on the wiki as well.

I have also fixed a few minor bugs here and there while I was at it .

Pretty sure you just connect the video out to the DFO as well, the logic selection is the same.

Here are a few pictures of my test installs, using ATtiny84A, and even one of the first attempts at snooping the controller data, with some wiring hell :D.

I'm not renowned for the cleanliness of my modding work anyway. It can probably be much better than that! So, if anybody who installs this could provide step-by-step pictures of a good mod, it would be great!

Great! We should also create a page for the DFO on the wiki then!

Bad_Ad84: you're probably right.. good to know you'll be testing it shortly!

Having the ability to customize the behavior of the mode switching could be good. e.g. You could have a mode that automatically switched to 60hz after a startup delay (to bypass region check).

Integration with this could be interesting too.. overclock with joystick combo?

Sure, both things you mention are possible! But I'm not sure that games would like the CPU clock being switched during play...

well it would be interesting to see.. another possibility is for the mega everdrive usb to tell the modchip what behavior is ideal for each game before loading it up (e.g. fix games with slowdowns). lots of exciting possibilities!
