Mega ED: locks on Super Hang-On. Known issue?

    Super Hang-On from the good set locks on my Mega ED. OS v3.
    I tried all of the GoodSet images, there's 4 of them, none of them works.

    Strangley enough though it works if I load one of the compilations with the game on it,
    like the 15-in-1 or 4-in-1.

    Of course I tested the images with Kega Fusion 3.64 straight from the SD and no problem there.

    Really strange.

    Try using a real cartridge then :p

    I do remember that I used a pirate cartridge of Super Hang On which would fail to boot correctly on a 60Hz machine but worked fine on a 50Hz machine.

    I can't get it to work either... 50/60hz mode makes no difference, it just shows a blank screen

    Something weird also happens with Fantasia.

    If I let the intro go it locks, if I press start early on (before the locking) I am able to play a game.
    Once I die for good if I choose continue I can play again but if I choose quit then it locks on a black screen ... oh well.
    Maybe some timing issues?

    if I had to bet I think the game tries to write/read to locations not normally accessible but that the Mega ED does not lock out and the code craps out ... but I may be wrong.

    Problems with Fantasia? That doesn't sound too good!
    I just ordered my Everdrive MD yesterday, and I'm planning to play Fantasia with it, hope it doesn't affect the Everdrive MD.

    Perhaps try another ROM, phoenixdownita?

    seems like Fantasia (U) (REV00) [!] does not work properly, but Fantasia (U) (REV00) [p1][!] works fine

    I make a dump of original Fantasia US cart, funny, but original binary is not match to "Fantasia (U) (REV00) [!]" rom, but completely match with "Fantasia (E) [!].gen". Dumped rom works fine with mega-ed

    So I've received my EDMD today. It's brilliant! I tested "Fantasia (U) (REV00) [!]" with it and it works flawlessly.

    Turn on Hard Reset. That fixed it for me, I had this issue a while back.

    I noted that the Japanese version of Alex Kidd will NOT work unless you turn it off, and a soft reset is done. Is this normal?
