Long story short, I believe Master System is affected by the same vertical bars in RGB as Megadrive. On MD lifting its color subcarrier VDP pin helps. You can dig through this huge topic for MD details.

What I'd like to know is how to fix the issue when it occurs on a genuine SMS. As opposed to MD's backwards compatibility mode. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just lift pin 6 of the encoder.

It kills composite and RF video either completely or just its color, I forgot which. But it works and is almost perfect (some jailbars remain but you have to push your nose to the screen to see those).

Sorry to revive this old topic.
I have a PAL Master System I which has the most intense jailbars I've ever seen.
It has a SONY 6130 V7040 RGB encoder IC
    IMG_20140122_144250.jpg
    Datasheet here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27485470/sony_6130_V7040_rgb_encoder_ic.pdf

The IC is not pin-compatible with the CXA, so I guess pin 6 of the CXA matches pin 10 of the V7040. Can anybody confirm this?
I'll be messing around with it to see if I can fix this issue, any info is much appreciated. Thanks guys!

I'm also trying to revive a 4 years old topic! Retro forever!

I did this method. But instead of lift pin 6, I grounded pin 6 as Whitesnake showed here:

    http://www.smspower.org/forums/15082-MasterSystemIIRGBFromMB3614Encoder

And since I didn't want to loose composite, my technican installed (i have ZERO soldering skills) a switch in the back to turn grounded pin 6 on and off.

I can tell it worked because using composite, with switch in "off" position I got color and "on "I got just black and white.

But I can't see any diference in RGB in "on" or "off" using scart and the jailbars remains the same...

Maybe it's because I didn't lift the pin 6 (grounded it) or because of installed switch?

Someone have pictures before and after to see what I can expect?

You can Also use c-sync instead Of composite video as sync in rgb output
