I have a suggestion, though I don't know how easy it would be to change. Would it be possible to remove the little gray squares around the avatar? The previous version of the forums didn't have that, which was nice because, if you have a transparent avatar like the one I have currently, it would blend in nicely with the rest of the information on the left side of the post. The gray box eliminates that effect by making the avatar distinct from the rest of the stuff on the left side of the post regardless of what the avatar looks like, and I'm not really sure what the point of it is. Most avatars will be rectangular anyway, so why does it need an additional rectangle around it? This isn't a big deal, but just a suggestion.

Just to illustrate what I'm talking about, compare how my avatar looks currently to how it would look without the gray box:

No. Avatars shouldn't be transparent. There are multiple styles - people use either dark or white and blue. Don't design your avatar (or signature) to suit one style.

Just to illustrate what I'm talking about, here's how everyone on the white style saw your post:

As I said to you previously, don't use transparent avatars.... and choose a sensible colour for signature text if you must use a picture. That's why ;)

What's your problem with transparent avatars? There are ways to make it so that it will be visible on both white and black backgrounds; I just haven't made the effort yet. And again, what is the point of the gray box?

Like you said - you haven't bothered, hence your avatar doesn't look good on the other style. That's my problem with transparent avatars. We'll eventually have several styles, most likely. The easiest answer is not to use a transparent background, but choose the background colour you want.

The grey frame is part of the style. A traditional "picture frame" effect, I guess. We don't style the site to suit one user's thoughts on what they think would look cool for their avatar. It's there on the white style, too - and I think every Xenforo style I've seen. Including their site.

My avatar background is transparent, however it works on whatever the background is as the red and black perimeter acts as a border for if the background is black, red or anything else. If you border your logo with a black edge around the letters then even on a white background the black surround would show the letters in your avatar ok, just a suggestion.

Technically, NOBODY'S avatars are transparent as the forum translates them to JPEGs. ;)

Sorry, yeah... I should say - if you're going to use a transparent background, make sure you use a picture / text that's easy to view on all backgrounds. Some of the forum conversion techniques could do screwy things with transparent backgrounds when they convert them to other formats (just as animated GIF files don't work)... but the main issue is PEBCAK (not choosing a good image to have a transparent background with).

They definitely are transparent, because when I try to download mine I get a PNG file with transparency that looks exactly like the one I uploaded. It's compressed somewhat I think, but still a PNG file. Maybe it converts it to JPG when it displays it on the site, but I'm pretty sure it's still transparent. Anyway, not all that important.

I'll update my avatar with one that'll work on both themes. I just haven't had the time recently as I've been pretty busy for the past week or so. I also haven't had access to a computer with Photoshop.

Right click the image and copy image URL...

    Yours:

(obviously can't see much lol. How it's remaining transparent as a JPEG... I don't know! Interesting)

    Mine:
    http://assemblergames.com/l/data/avatars/m/0/25.jpg?1432211327

Remember mine was animated? I've not changed it. It's static because Xenforo changes avatars to JPEGs. Go to my profile and it'll be animated. I guess it might be time to retire it :\

Anyway, yeah... delving a bit too far lol. Much appreciated - if you don't have Photoshop, use pixlr - it's a free web-based clone with decent functionality.

There. I've updated my avatar so that it's now visible on both themes. I'll do the same thing for my signature later. I actually do have Photoshop (that's what I used to do this), but I only have it on my desktop, and I've been away from home for a few days and I only had my laptop, which doesn't have Photoshop.

Aesthetically, I think that looks horrible. Most avatars don't work as transparent (mine) and the site would just look inconsistent. I couldn't stand the rank images, because they broke the flow of the page due to the different sizes.

Yes and it doesn't help, I guess my phone isn't big enough. There would be enough room for it though.

I guess that's the point of the frame - provide consistency where someone's used the same background colour.

Works on my Android. Sounds like a resolution issue - the site is responsive so it'll only display whatever it's set to in your resolution.

I've already stated my opinion. I'm not going to argue meaninglessly. Anyway, I'm probably going to update my avatar with a new image that will probably not have any transparency, though I haven't decided what it will be yet.

Is it now impossible to delete posts, or is it just done in a different way or something?

You can't delete posts, no. There shouldn't be a need to do so.

The previous site had this feature, and virtually every online forum has this feature. You can even delete posts on Facebook. The fact that there's no option to delete a post means that if you want to delete a post, your only option is to manually delete the contents of the post and replace it with one letter or something meaningless. Why should a user have to do that when a simple button will solve the issue? You said "there shouldn't be a need to do so". Um... I'm pretty sure people used this feature on the previous site. So either there's a "need" for it, or people were just deleting their posts for absolutely no reason.
