So, I took out the barely leaking battery of my Indiana Jones Fruit Machine. But it turns out that the default settings on this cab is just awful, especially the sound volume which goes to max without a battery to hold the settings.

So the question is, if I use one of those rechargeable batteries off ebay to replace the one that used to leak, but instead of soldering it onto the pcb, I add wires to it and place it on a safer place so I wont have to worry about it ruining my pcb, is there still a risk of corrosion on my card anyways? Not from leaking battery, but how about that green gunk you some times find inside your bulb holder on a car or on a pcb far away from batteries? Should I just leave the machine with no battery just to be sure?
