Have there been any updates? I would think with tomorrow being Halloween there'd be something.

They want to keep some surprises in store for the final release. Just be glad we're getting any new updates.

Videos should really be used when screenshots fail to deliver or for decently long teasers with various things to look at (example: a bunch of playable segments). Static pictures work well enough for spoilerless sneak peeks, especially if what you're showing is a static background.

The IGAS guys are doing a mighty job, beyond anyone's wildest dreams, and for that I applaud them.

Development is ongoing from what I read. Pretty sure they said they would release it only when finished. I mean, they already put how much work into it.

Actually, there have been some great developments behind the scenes...

First of all, THIA forum regular Gemini has joined Team I.G.A.S. and the whole project is now running on his "Squeeze Bomb" engine technology, developed over a period of about 9 months for a fan game he was working on entitled Behind The Mask (which is now being produced simultaneously with the 1.5 restoration, it seems).

Due to certain inefficiencies in Capcom's own code, the original engine proved too difficult to continue working under, with Squeeze Bomb meaning all intended assets and features can now be implemented at a much quicker rate, significantly improving the turnover rate. Indeed, a recent video already shows new backgrounds and efforts to finally do something about the "Magic Zombie Door" problem, not to mention this will presumably mean the infamous "Air Jesus" glitch is now a thing of the past.

As this won't affect the chosen platform or the end result's planned contents, I'm all for the idea, though it must be a little worrying for those involved now that at least one team member can be more easily identified, since I.G.A.S. was initially quite proud of the fact its work had been done under strict anonymity, especially after they were reported to Capcom's US message board. On the other hand, it's been claimed that a few more figures might be known by other names as well.

Either way, I really don't care - the fact remains that with 1.5 and Sonic Xtreme both progressing at truly promising rates, the next few months guarantee to be highly memorable for enthusiasts of these games.

It was indeed fixed a while back, but on the other hand Squeeze Bomb never had such a weird bug. The joy of proto vs planned.

I haven't received any C&D letters or similar during the 9 months of development of BTM and HB. At this point it's clear that CAPCOM doesn't care much as long as money is not involved in the equation.
