Once I bought a 2600 and it had live roaches in it, so I left it outside a few days so the roaches would escape I took it apart and put it in a tub full of soapy water and I scrubbed the hell out of it.

Btw this thread is nasty ! Back in the 90s I lent my copy of streets of rage 3 to a school mate, never regretted something in my life up to that point. When he FINALLY gave it back and forgive me when I say, it smelled like an ass mixed with something sweet. The stench was HORRIBLE !! I actually threw the cart away and bought a new one later on.
So strange when it happened again when I bought a used copy of Portal2... :grief:

 

I don't see how you can buy only new controllers, if you're playing old consoles at least. New controllers for retro consoles are hard to come by, and usually pretty expensive. You're probably right, but I prefer not to think about it. There are human bodily fluids on almost every object you touch on a daily basis. Anyway, you're not going to get an STD from a controller. And if you like to lick your controllers... well perhaps you should reconsider that policy.

 

actually did laugh at licking your controllers part, aslong as you clean them properly there shouldnt be able problem. you're more likely to get sick from eating at a restaurant or kissing. thats what out bodies have immune systems, but saying that some things are pretty nasty laptop keyboards full of pubes and other things. i wouldnt buy a used keyboard but dont have a problem with controllers as i always strip them down and clean them.

theres normally a lot of new unopened 3rd party controllers around but not so much official ones and like said the price is high and not really worth it if you're going to be using it.

 

I have 3 SEGAWORLD jackets that reeked of cigarettes when they arrived. The smell was so strong I was actually choking and the jackets seemed pretty much damp with the tobacco smell.

I washed them about 5 time and hung them out to air for a long time.

 

An NTSC-U Dreamcast I bought from APE wasnt filthy, but it did have blades of grass inside it by the fan

I've bought some stuff from the orient with an Asian funk to them... you know the smell of soy sauce etc. Not very nice and hard to shift.

My NTSC-J Dreamcast which came as part of a job lot was not only filthy, but is so damaged it looked like the previous owner chucked it around the room after blowing the PSU. It was also sold as tested as working!

An NGPC arrived today with some kind of yellow slime on the AA battery cover but it wiped off NP. It looked a bit like pork pie jelly.

I got my copy of burning Rangers yesterday and it's the exact OPPOSITE of the controler. It was like it was just unwrapped it even had the spinecard and inserts in tact!

 

What can I say, I have 5 rodents.

 

I can make my heftily used water pipe smell like new with rubbing alcohol. I'd try that lol
