This week I'm releasing some odd Saturn protos and some Megadrive pirates. The Saturn protos are:

    Crypt Killer (Prototype - Jan 8, 1997)
    Duke Nukem (Prototype - Sep 18, 1997)
    Fighters Megamix (Prototype - Apr 08, 1997)
    Fighting Vipers (Prototype - Sep 06, 1996)
    Loaded (Prototype - Sep 3, 1996)
    Primal Rage (Prototype - Feb 12, 1996)
Sega Rally Championship (Prototype - Oct 31, 1995)
    Slam N' Jam 96 (Prototype - Feb 1, 1996)
    Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Prototype - Feb 07, 1996)
    Virtua Racing (Prototype - Oct 30, 1995)
    Winning Post (Prototype - Dec 27, 1995)

Just a little heads up, RAR compresses Saturn games much better than 7z. (7z is weaker at handling pcm data, so games with a lot of cd audio tend to work better with RAR)

    After just checking the dates...
Loaded (Prototype - Sep 3, 1996) <--- Haha, what. Retail is 1996 June (pal) or July (usa).
Virtua Racing (Prototype - Oct 30, 1995) <--- retail is September 13 (header) or 20 (files on the disc). Again, this seems to be later than retail?

Sega Rally and Winning Post have identical dates to the usa retail versions, I wonder if they are just press discs with the retail game.

Both dates are actually wrong, thanks for noticing. Loaded is from June and Virtua Racing is Aug 30, not Oct. Thanks for noticing.

Winning Post is a press disc sorta, Sega Rally is a CD-R with '100%' written on it.

As of 7z, I've been using RAR for a while now and always wanted to switch something. 7z seems to be the best alternative. I don't want to use RAR any more as it's not really a free format. I'd rather not support a shareware format that they can pull support for whenever they want and that you need official software to compress files with.

    Is Slam'n'Jam one track only?

Yes. On decent mounting programs you can just mount the track. If not, you can create a simple one-track cue.

    Thanks as always for these!

It made me chuckle that you're worried about not being able to legitimately use a piece of software without paying for it to compress copied games ;) hehe. Is this the real pirate code? ;)

I know, I just wanted to confirm that it doesn't have missing tracks.

Very nice, shame I haven't got much time to check them out at the moment.

OK, I checked the games: Sega Rally and Winning Post are the same as the USA retail versions, and Loaded is the same as the PAL retail version. The rest doesn't match any known retail release.

Can anyone get MK3 to work? I've been trying it with the SSF emulator (both ver 0.09 and 0.1) and I get a garbled screen on one and a black screen on the other.

Primal rage works fine on both however.

    Use Yabause.

Controls don't work, but thats not the emulators fault.

That still makes it after the US retail release.

    Time Warner's Virtua Racing - T-4801H-50 - ??? 1995 EU
    VR Virtua Racing - T-4801H - June 1st 1995 - US
    Virtua Racing Sega Saturn - T-4803G - December 22nd 1995 - JP

Maybe it's a Proto of the Japanese version but even then that's just the US version on a Japanese printed disc. The disc will even run in a US Saturn and PAL Saturn due to it being region free. The PAL Virtua Racing is also region free.

Virtua Racing retail version dates to September 13, and the disc has the exact same game data on all 3 releases.

Oh right. When you guys were talking about retail dates I thought you were actually talking about the street date, you know, the date it hits the stores.

Was it actually released in June 1 though? I don't think that date is accurate, especially since the iso date in the disc is later.
